Looks like Luke is taking a page out of Phil's book and has decided to comment on the city he's about to visit. Maybe the Memphisians will be a little easier on him than the River Walkers were on Phil.

LA Daily News: "In Memphis, everybody gets a good night sleep the night before," Walton said of a city whose night life shuts down closer to sunset than sunrise. "I don't know what it is. They like to run, but we're used to playing running teams. We have a team that's built for that."

We have to win this game, because the next one will be very difficult.

After practice yesterdayPhil mentioned the possibility of starting Trevor Ariza over Luke Walton because of Trevor’s athleticism and familiarness with the Grizzlies’ Rudy Gay.

No cockiness and the Lakers should be able to handle this team.

1. Mike Miller is a bit of a concern with his 3pt shooting, and this team generally is pretty darn solid from the arc. So watch the threes, LA.

2. Defense has to be quick tonight. Memphis is very good at swinging the ball, has a lot of solid passers on the team so LA's D may get a bit stretched. If we get sucked inside to cover Gasol, the outside shooters make us pay. If we stick with the shooters, we need big play from our PF, C spots.

3. With #2 in mind, GOTTA get the bigs going so they respond on defense. Odom and Bynum should be able to do some damage and if we can get Pau into foul trouble by attacking, we're good to go.

Lakers 97
Memphis 89
What an offseason! Added T-Mac, Trevor Ariza, and a real Caracter!

The last time the Lakers visited the FedEx Forum, Kobe Bryant left Memphis fans in awe as he tallied 60 points, making 20 of his 37 field goal attempts. The Lakers needed every one of thoese points, en route to a 121-119 victory.

This time around, it’s a different story. Bryant is averaging nearl 27 points per game — which translates to a 5 point dropoff from last season. Bryant hasn’t had to carry a heavy scoring load throughout this early season — due in large part to the production Los Angeles has been receiving from the bench coupled with the emergence of Center Andrew Bynum.

"I'm tempted to start [Ariza] against Memphis because Rudy Gay is such an athlete and is playing at a high level right now," Jackson said. "Trevor might have more knowledge of him than Luke.

Lakers by 8. Drew is too much for them, Gay and Miller kill us, Conley torches our PG's.
