Quick Recap
Lakers score 22 of final 34 points in the game, receive key contributions from Nash, Howard, Kobe, and Gasol in the closing minutes, and win a big Christmas Day game. The Lakers even up their record at 14-14, winning their fifth straight in the process. The Knicks lose their second in a row and fall to 20-8.
Perhaps the only thing that didn't go well for LA was the three-point shooting. Their starters were 2-11, while the bench was only slightly better (3-10). Metta World Peace was a two-way star with 20 points and good defense on Carmelo Anthony. Steve Nash and Dwight Howard double doubled. Kobe hit 14 of 24 shots for 34 points.
The Lakers play at Denver tomorrow night. It will be back to back for LA, but it will be even worse for Denver, who plays tonight in LA before traveling home to host the Lakers. The win moves LA into a tie for the 10th seed, only 1.5 games out of the sixth seed.
Game Hero: Metta World Peace seemed to get into Carmelo Anthony's head. Melo still had a big game, but Metta gave as well as he got from the league's second leading scorer.
