It's either gonna be a close Laker win or a San Antonio blowout. Probably the latter....

After coming of a Christmas loss to Lebron James and the Miami heat the Lakers have a bigger challenge in front of them. Lakers who is 21-9 goes against the NBA best San Antonio Spurs who are 26-4. Lakers, who has been struggling lately with 2 straight loses at home with a 79-98 loss to milwaukee and a 80-96 loss to the Miama Heat, go on the road to a much bigger game.Bryant, averaging 16.8 points over the past four games, stressed the team must do a better job of working out its problems in practice. - something the Lakers tried to accomplish during two days off between the Heat game and this one. San Antonio, who are 17-2 at home and coming off a home victory last night with a 94-80 win over the Wizards, look to be the best in the league having 4 out of 5 starters averaging over 10 points per game with Ginobill leading the way with 19.5 PPG. San Antonio couldn't help but look ahead to this matchup. "We talked about it this morning at shootaround; make sure we respect them and that we use this game to prepare for the Lakers," point guard Tony Parker said. "We have a big game against them, obviously, and we're going to have to match their energy. I'm sure they're going to come in and look to bounce back from their loss against Miami." San Antonio, which had a 10 game win streak broke against Orlando Magic, has won 10 in a row at but faces the Lakers which has won five straight road games. The Spurs are younger, deeper, bigger and are determined to get a championship title this year. A spirited practice was a hopeful antidote to Bryant's unhappiness, but as Jackson noted, there are practical considerations as well. " We tried to cover some things we anticipate San Antonio is going to do, who are right now the best club in the NBA," explained Jackson. "We faced one that was pretty good the other day anode now we have to face one of the better ones on their floor." Lakers will try to regain there strength tuesday night at San Antonio.

Lakers have been doing well against the Spurs the last few seasons. But, both teams have traded blow outs as well. It would be pretty damning for the Lakers to get blown out a third time in a row though, so if they lose, at the very least, I hope it is a battle.

But, I expect them to win.

gut check time. if the lakers can't pull out a win here after being thoroughly embarrassed by milwaukee and miami in back to back home games....i dunno.

taken from stein's power rankings, these losses could be a slippery slope:
Imagine trying to three-peat without home-court advantage in the second round, conference finals or Finals. That's how L.A.'s playoff road looked Monday morning without having played any of our top three teams yet.

Any sort of a loss will be devastating making it 3 in a row. Then it becomes a bigger issue of when will they get their mojo back? If the Lakers win it will be an upset. Does anyone know the latest odds line on the game?

Admit it, you want to see bad things happen to Sean Elliott for referring to Odom as Mr. Kardashian every single freaking time we play them. It's old and unoriginal Sean and it makes you look even more terrible than usual.
“This contract with Joel Anthony is a testament to the man who is second to none; who has worked hard and deserved this,” said Heat President Pat Riley. “We felt that what he has done over the last couple of years in developing his game, his body and his knowledge warrants this reward. If other NBA non-drafted free agents want a prototype to follow, Joel Anthony is that man."
