Would it kill Kobe to shoot 50 percent from the field?

Geesh.

Even Iverson, who had 46 points tonight, was 16/25.

Ruben Patterson never allowed Kobe to get into a rhythm. Kobe had some good looks at the 3, but it weren't the look that he was most comfortable with.

The announcers say that Ruben got his reputation by doing "that" to Kobe. What is "that" 41 points?

thats a tough loss. I hope we bounce back at home against Cleveland.
If I had to choose one win it would be the Cleveland game. But Kobe again played 44-45 minute. damn thats not good. :mad1: he has now 44+ in 3 consecutive games and tomorrow its going to be similar

games like this make me sick. Getting outhustled and no defense. Im all for kobe taking over games, and I dont fault him even when he keeps missing......but dude! the refs were pretty good to him all night and the blazers were out of fouls pretty early in the 4th. He should have attacked rather than shot those 3's.

This is one of reason why Kobe isnt better than MJ. Could you imagine MJ launching up three after three after three? And he wasnt hitting?

we lost this game because we never committed to playing any semblance of defense...not only that, our big men couldnt cover the portland guards on switches...

kobe played decent. his defense could have been much better, but part of that is because the team defense sucked. also, cant really expect a great defensive effort from kobe when he plays 45-48 minutes every damn game.

im most upset that when kobe went down the portland crowd was cheering. i dont care how much they hate kobe...you should never cheer when a man is down. that's pathetic.

yeah, just a bad performance on the defensive end
and did anyone notice the just absolute homerism of those announcers, every play kobe had was, "travel! oh the refs just aren't giving him calls" or "the kobe killer strikes again" he had 41 points idiots, get your stories straight
all right, well all in all, a combination of a lack of defense on our part and a boost from the outside on their part resulted in this loss

some of the ppl crack me up on this forum.. they're so blinded by their bias it's beyond explanation..

before this game, ppl we're scoffing at iverson scoring 46 because the sixers didn't come away with a win.. but now ppl say "at least kobe scored 40+"... WTF?!?! :bang:

damn, i love kobe, but he shouldn't have been jacking up 3 after 3 after 3.. he prides himself as a "scorer".. surely he could've found another avenue to score.. had he done that and used his more devastating weapons and athleticism, there would have been no need for 3s to make a comeback..

what a let down of a game..

Lakers win by double d's.

The Blazers are an NBA team. Blazers have beaten the Sixers (95 - 91) and Wolves (91 - 83).

Regardless of what their record says: Ruben has been thinking of this matchup for a week. Mentioning having "Kobe on Wednesday" last week. You don't think they prepared for him? You don't think they can't beat us? They beat us last year!!!!! Without Zach Randolph.

With Zach Randolph, they blow us out.

forget that..tonights game wasnt even about offense.

Defensively you cannot give up more than 20 points more than your opponent averages. Also, 52% when they average only 43%

hopefully lamar steps up tonight...who on that team could deal with an aggressive lamar?

They've beaten Iverson and Garnett, they're not going to roll over and waive the white flag because it's the Lakers. Why does everyone put emphasis on the Cleveland matchup? They don't play defense. It's not like it's against Miami. The Knicks beat them (in Cleveland).

jminges-- i agree with you...although i do feel that kobe will extra hyped for the lebron game...and i think it's fair to say that if lamar steps up today, kobe can rest a little and play the game he likes to play tomorrow...without larry hughes, i think the lakers have a really good chance of beating cleveland. even with him destroying smush/sasha, we should be able to beat them at home...

let's hope that minny, utah, and others with similar records or slightly better than us lose tonight....helps our standings

Still think so? Was I the only one that KNEW Portland wanted to win tonight?

Stu kept saying the lakers didn't get 2 stops in a row and it didnt seem like he was exaggerating. They literally didnt get too many. We're not a great defensive team, but man was that pathetic
