Terrible start, can't get much worse.
"Let me say one more thing about Kobe. He will be the best player in the history of the game. If he keeps doing what he's doing, there is no stopping him. He is that good." - Shaquille O'Neal in his autobiography, "Shaq Talks Back"

Well, that quarter answers a lot of my questions. Crowd silent. Lakers giving up lobs. Missing free throws.

Mavs look confident and comfortable. Gasol lets a ball go out of bounds. Gasol shooting jump shots. Andrew traveling. Blake can't shoot.

I have no confidence in this team. I blame Gasol -- he is supposed to help Kobe. He is garbage.

Lakers are losing the battle in the paint and the perimeter is left alone because Mavs know there is no threat so they have clogged the lane... no one can hit from outside anymore consistently... :man5:

Mavericks have missed a ton of shots, and given LA opportunities, but LA has struggled tremendously to capitalize on these chances.

In the big picture, interior scoring tends to win more than perimeter scoring, but I agree, the Lakers are terrible shooting the three( and long two, and guarding either most of the time) As much as shooting long balls doesn't tend to win championships, it is still a pretty vital tool to keep individual games in control, and the Lakers have a nasty habit of letting threes occur and then not being able to respond to them, which just means more work to get out of a hole once they're in it.

One of the fundamental aspects of making an inside game work is loosening up defenses by going inside out and hitting perimeter shots to keep defenses from packing the paint. We have Bynum and Gasol, but their games suffer by not having shooters to open the paint for them. We've gotta have shooters if we wanna have an effective inside game.

Dirk just doesn't miss that shot. I remember when Pau was pretty automatic with his mid range shots too...

We need shooters....plain and simple. We get open shots but no one can make them consistently.

This is gonna be a fast series sadly for the lakers. Dallas so far looks like a better team. Oh well we can't win every year.
