Thinking about the "what ifs" is rather pointless in this case, since if the Lakers had played defense in the 4th, if Kobe's teammates had hit their shots, if the Lakers didn't need to rely on Kobe to bail out their stagnant offense in the 4th, then Kobe wouldn't have needed to take that three. The point is choking away that lead was a team effort, but Kobe's singular clutch shot saved the game and credit needs to go where it's deserved.

It's not the way any of us wanted to see the Lakers win, and it doesn't excuse the entire team's poor play, but Kobe definitely saved the day with that three.

The fans criticisizing Kobe don't understand... he has earned the right to throw those shots up because of all the games he's saved. The odds are better than half most the time he'll come thru but there is a flip side everyone must accept. Those are the nights when it doesn't work...

Well, it was fugly, it was TENSE, it was absolute MELTDOWN in the 4th quarter, but that dude Kobe saved our butts once again and we got the W... And NO Portland in round one.. I'm sure we're starting at 12:30 Sunday if the official playoff sched hasn't come out yet.. Rest up Andrew, Matt and the rest of the fellas.. Real season starts then...

Only 1 of those shots was "forced"...the rest were shots he had been making the whole game, he just missed em.


BTW...thank you Lakers for the near heart attack..but I'm glad we closed Arco Arena with one final game where Kobe and Fish break their hearts in OVERTIME! (game7 2002)

For the first time in my life, I can finally say I like Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers are down 3 points to the Kings who are playing possibly their last regular season game home and in the final regular season game of the year. It's Phil Jackson's last coaching year, the 2 seed is on the line, and if they lose this game, they lose home court advantage to Dallas and Boston. They would then have to face the hardest first-round team in the league AND ruin my chances of bragging about an upset I've been chanting for weeks. What does he do?

He hits a three over the out-stretched hand of a 7 footer.

I assume you speak of the Blazers "upset" over the Mavs if we can call it that. I've been saying the same thing for weeks! I'm sure our prediction will come through. :jam2:

Im glad the Lakers won to get some momentum to go into the playoffs. Im surprised they lost their 22 point lead, but a win is a win either way.
