One question about tonights game:

Why did Phil wait till about 7 minutes in the game to put Kobe on Melo? Should have started that way at the beginning of the 4th. He COMPLETELY STOPPED the rookie. He frustrated him to the point were he was looking for a call every time he touched the ball. That was what got the Lakers back in this game. Even the Denver announcers said Melo was trying to hard to get a foul called and that late in the game, "No blood, No foul".

As for the 24 sec. violation that wasn't/was, at first glance, it didn't touch the rim. It is easy for those at the arena and in TV land to say it touched the rim but even with the replay it was hard to get a definite answer. The refs don't have the luxury of the replay. I was upset though that they called jump ball.

I am guessing Phil didn't want Kobe to get tired. He wanted for him to have something for tomorrow. And he waited till clutch time to put Kobe on Melo. That's what I think

I can accept your explanation. Didn't think about tomorrow. I'm always most concerned about winning the 1st of back to back games. When you win the 1st, winning the 2nd is less pressure. But if you lose the first, you feel like you gotta come out strong in the 2nd game to make up for the loss.

I expect to see the Lakers come out strong tomorrow and beat the Queens!!

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

By the way, did anyone notice how when Kobe started guarding Carmelo in the 4th, he only allowed 2 points and just shut him down?

I did. I know Phil didn't have Kobe guard him the entire game so Kobe wouldn't run out of energy for late-game clutch play tonight, as well as for tommorows game.

That shot didnt hit the rim. if you only saw the Sprtscenter highlight you might think that from that angle and you only see it for 2 seconds. However i taped the game and reviewed it. it didnt touch, it was close but it missed, and the baseline ref called it immediately, watch and youll see, he had the best perspective of anyone. the whistle that supposedly saved the game for the lakers almost cost them a key possession and the game becuase 2 refs saw 2 different things. thanks Shaq for winning that jump ball....damn i love Lil walton and Rush. Also thanks Denver for doubling Kobe and leaving #21 open......good call

Same here-- it was obvious that it didn't hit the rim.
