West Finals - Game 5 - Results Inside - Postgame comments

Just a guess:

Maybe the NBA tried to force this series into game 6, so that they get more viewers for Memorial Day.

The Lakers didn't play well, don't try to pin the blame on other things. :man7:

Gary killed it for us by not taking that shot, thus forcing a 3 second call on Shaq. Oh well, what can you do. It's done with.

It's over for the T-Pups in Game 6

The 4 EXTREMELY poor calls that cost us the game:

1) Sprewell runs over Fox who had perfect defensive position, no call, Wolves got 2 points.

2) Shaq bumps Olowafloppy with 1/10th the strength that Spre hit Fox, offensive foul, Lakers would have had 2 points there.

3) Madsen runs over Malone, foul on Malone, Garnett's shot counts, they get the ball back and make another basket, 4 points there for the Wolves.

4) Hassell fouling Kobe before and during that one 3 point attempt (that resulted in a Kobe technical), possible 4 point switch there.

That's a 12 point switch. Now that's just baskets scored off of poor calls. That doesn't even take into consideration the momentum lost by the Lakers and the momentum gained by the Wolves.

One thing I REALLY enjoyed in the game was the Lakers not giving up. They could have lost by 10 points, but put in the effort to only lose by 2. What this does is takes a lot of confidence away from the Wolves.

I expect a definite win on Monday.

Fisher almost made the comeback complete. I could care less about those non-calls. What really did us in was the 3 second call. Gary should have shot the ball!!!

No worries though. Phil said that before the game, the team took the situation very lightly. I hardly doubt that'll be the case on Monday. Phil (and Kobe to some extent) guaranteed a win. Shaq sounds extremely pissed off so you know what that means come game time.

All Kobe has to do is shut down Sprewell. The rest will be handled by the Big Daddy.

What was the last 10 seconds of the game like (I missed it)? Did the Lakers have chance to win with a buzzer beater or anything?

Last 10 seconds, they cut the lead down to 7, then to 5. They fouled Wally who missed both of his free throws. 5 seconds left, they dribbled down the floor... Fisher sinks a long three to cut it down by 2... at the buzzer

Thanks for the reply Gill, that's a bummer. Let's see if this loss lit a fire under the Lakers. A fire that will lead them to 5 straight wins .

Let's not panick here yet. They played loosely most of the time, down 16 with 6 minutes left and yet look at how much we cut into it... 2 points!

Am I the only one here that feels the Lakers will send the T-Pups packing for summer vacation by Monday with a blowout at Staples?

just hope they stop takin the twolves lightly. again the lakers looked like they were playin a regular season game where they practically play like zombies til the last few minutes of the 4th.

they wont take them lightly i guess they will shut up them in game 6 in staples! and celebrate with fans

i agree about kobe and shaq, shaq has no monster game in playoffs yet

maybe this game....

The Lakers will win. The organization makes more money if there's a Game 6.
