Magic states he's "upset at management"

He said that there are too many voices in the organization right now, and whether the Lakers get a fair trade in return, they will move him. Said Kobe wants to be traded to Chicago, and even if he goes there, he's going to go to the Bulls and be in the same situation there as LA because LA will have gutted their team.

He also said Kobe didn't act smart when he got "Shaq traded" to be the man, now he realizes it isn't that easy to do it alone. Stated that he should have accepted Shaq as the leader, been ok with it, and was partially to blame for the whole fiasco.

Charles said LA won't get equal value for Kobe. States LA is a 7th or 8th seed team maybe.

Basically said Kobe should have mended the fences with Shaq and that Kobe was naive when he thought he could win it all by himself

After hearing that from Magic, Kobe should actually be more inclined to leave the Lakers now.

I think this is the first time I agree with you on something, but you're absolutely right. It's like, he bashes the organization, then bashes Kobe....stop being so damn modest Magic, state how you really feel. It seemed as though he was more fixed on criticizing Kobe, which I didn't find shocking at all.

Did Magic just ruin our chances to get Deng from the Bulls? He said the Bulls won't be a better team with Kobe so why would the Bulls make a trade now?

he also just basically said that kobe is responsible for trading away shaq. said that kobe wanted to be the lead man and didn''t understand how you can't replace star talent

What he said about Kobe and Shaq was BS.

There were many more factors involved than just the dislike between Kobe and Shaq.

Magic just laid it out.

He doesn't want many voices coming out of the Lakers org, which explains why he isn't volleying his own opinion in all of this.

He said its Kobe's fault for allowing it to get into this position. So not only is it management's fault in being so futile over the years but its also Kobe's for not mending a relationship with Shaq and letting him be the man, till he eventually became the man do to the aging process.

Thank you Magic for being the voice of reason and stop dancing around the issues like Mitch, Jim and Kobe have all done.

Phil has spoke his mind and now Magic has. I applaud them for doing that.

Magic earlier said the Lakers wouldn't make a trade without Deng, and that the Bulls won't win a title with Kobe after they give up what the Lakers want to get him. He was making the point that it's tough to make a deal under those circumstances.

well ... Magic is right in saying that there are too many voices and all saying different things .... that's why the FO is a mess right now ....
here everyone has some guilt so ... Kobe, FO, etc ....

Well, he made it sound like the Lakers getting Deng, Gordon, and Tyrus is a given. Which it obviously isn't.

Contradicts what he said earlier which was "Kobe will NOT be traded"...makes too much, CHI can't get a good package,can't get equal value for Kobe..."


So he takes shots at both? They deserve it. It's not like EITHER cares what Magic thinks anyway...

If they did:

Shaq would still be here.
Kobe would be Shaq's #2.
Buss would have given Shaq the 100 mil extension.

I like Magic but if he wants to be relevant, he needs to REALLY take a stand. Be active when it counts.

what? i dont recall magic sasying ANYTHING about the shaq trade...he talked about the lakers unwillingness to trade Kobe if they dont get Deng back...he also talked about how Kobe shouldnt have made his trade demands public...said he should have done it privately...he didnt say anything about shaq unless he just talked about it now cuz im talking about the pregame show...

he also said lakers fans dontn want to see Kobe leavea nd if he DOES get traded they need a star player in return cuz of the high ticket prices...said it makes more sense for the lakers to get JO than to trade Kobe to chicago cuz they wont get equal value...cnt say i disagree with that...

barkeley and kenny both think the lakers shud trade Kobe which surprised me...both said the lakers arent good even with Kobe....magic refuted by saying lakers fans would rather lose with kobe than lose without him...

barkeley also thinks lakers are an 8th seed at best with this current team and he's at least right about one thing.....thinsk even with JO the lakers wouldnt be contenders

regarding shaq's contract, try 150 mil contract. he wanted 30 mil a year for 5 years.

Kobe says Magic was his favorite player and idol growing up (come on, he worshipped MJ) so I would think Magic's word can have some sort of positive effect to Kobe. I would like to think he has at least that much influence...

The one thing though he was dead on correct was when he said there's too many voices coming out of Lakers front office and first name he said was Jim Buss. That guy is an idiot and most on here can see that and I think most around NBA know that too.
