so

3 million for the 29th
1.5 million for the 42nd

4.5 mil for 2 picks Not bad
100 people see fire.
99 start screaming and getting hysterical over all the smoke.
I start looking for the cause.

Concern yourselves with the Problems, not the Symptoms.

With their pick in the second round at No. 42, the Lakers drafted point guard Patrick Beverley, who played in Ukraine last season, traded him to the Miami Heat for $1.5 million and a 2011 second-round pick.

From LA Times.

So we came out today with an extra $4.5 million, 2 future second rounders, and the rights to a guy who could have been a first rounder next year. Sounds good.

If Wade bolts from Miami and the Knicks' 2010 plan fails, we could have two high 2nd rounders. :man1: Wishful thinking, I know.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

We basically got the money to sign Ariza. There's NO reason we can't keep him for at least 5M now.

Well not necessarily. Remember if we are over the salary cap (which is inevitable) the salary doubles. So instead of it being 5M, it's closer to 10M.

Yep. It certainly helps our cause though.

We can definitely trade Farmar for a future pick as well. That'll shed about 2 million off the books. Let Sun go and that's another $736,000. We have to pinch pennies to keep this going.

When Sund said the draft isn't helpful to playoff teams, right then and there I knew he wasn't doing anything to better the team in the draft.

I agree. I love how Mitch is doing it. Man, how quick he turned things around in LA.

I think Buss generated more than enough revenue during playoffs to payoff Ariza and Odom's salary in addition to incurring luxury taxes.

^ To be fair, he's come along way since he was drafted. It took stops overseas and in the D-League to become a two way player and to hone his skills. Lakers don't exactly excel at developing their draft picks. Had we drafted him, he wouldn't still be on the team, and he certainly wouldn't look like the player who is unconscious in tonight's game.
