Best PG?

Postby Still A Dynasty on Sat Apr 15, 2006 1:24 pm

Who will be the best pg out of this years draft?

Randy Foye
Rajon Rondo
Marcus Williams
Mardy Collins
Dee Brown

I think for the triangle foye, rondo, or collins would be ideal, but overall im going with Rondo

I think Rondo is best, and suspect that he will be the first pg drafted.

I like Foye out of the first group posted.

My dark horse pg is Chris Hernandez from Stanford. He's a Stockton clone if there ever was one. He creates excellent rhythm on the floor, good passer, makes very few mistakes, is a hard-nosed defender, strong as a bull, can break down defenses and has a very sweet perimeter stroke. I like his game an awful lot. He's got superb b-ball IQ. A VERY solid pick for somebody (very much a Jerry Sloan type player.)

what about Gibson...now that he has decleared and will be there most likely at the 26, should we take him. Comparrison to Billups, I say that the chance with Miami;s pick on Gibson and then a big with the second

Chris Hernandez Scouting report from ESPN:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/pr ... yerId=5513

Scouting Report: Excellent point guard who can score and distribute equally as well ... A pure shooter who is one of the most dangerous perimeter marksmen in the country ... Own a quick but slightly early release ... The key to his success is largely shot selection ... Will not force bad shots from deep, and uses his long-range skills to set up the drive ... Has a solid mid-range game and can get to the basket ... Elevates to finish over the top of traffic ... Has good instincts as a playmaker ... Creates for teammates and limits turnovers ... Coaches love putting the ball in his hands to protect leads at the end of games because of his stellar free throw shooting ability ... Shows great poise and is never out of control or over aggressive ... Solid defender ... Very strong and has a great frame, as he bench presses over 300 pounds despite weighing just 190.

I have followed Rondo for a few years and he really has the potential to become a distributor. I think he even had like 35 assists more than once in high school, so obviously he's capable. But he doesn't do it consistantly. Will probably be best suited at shooting guard for the first couple of years in the league, ala Gilbert Arenas. For that reason however, I'll take a more pure point guard like Marcus Williams, or a lock down and big guard like Mardy Collins. But there's no doubt Rondo has some real star potential as a scorer, an athlete and shall I say.................a distributor? Maybe...

I wouldn't mind seeing LA take Collins. He's a realistic option where they're picking and he's a great defender.

Wow...he was much lower in earlier mocks. Looks unlikely.
