Boston & Houston Attempting To Move Up To #2 Pick

Boston & Houston Attempting To Move Up To #2 Pick

Postby Kobe8Fan on Tue Jun 09, 2009 2:37 pm

Meanwhile, the Griz still are entertaining offers for the No. 2 pick as well as their 27th and 36th selections.

As the rumor mill churns, the Griz have been approached by several teams about acquiring the second overall pick. Boston, Houston and New York are said to be among the most recent suitors.

Boston and Houston would likely have to offer an established NBA player or two, given that neither team owns a first-round pick. New York owns the eighth pick and likely would want to move up for the opportunity to take Rubio.

I don't see Boston being interested in Rubio since they have Rondo. The Celts would likely go for a raw front court player they can develop to take over for Pierce and Garnett.

Because the Grizzlies aren't a player away from contending, though, I don't see them being interested in any of Boston's aging Big 3.

I wonder what players on Houston would tempt Memphis?

Scola, Landry, or McGrady's expiring (though it would probably be a three team deal since McGrady wouldn't want to play for Memphis)

Thanks for the info.

I wonder what sort of plan Memphis is following in building a winner?

^memphis never cares about building a winner. they just need a brand player name that can fill seats. they need to get financially stable first, get a great fan base, and then they can start building a winner.

Brand name players don't grow on trees.

If they're efficient with their expenses and build a winner with players who work well together, the franchise will be fine and fans will come.

trading the #2 pick for a solid backup pf when you're trying to build a winner is grounds for dismissal from the league.

I'm sure Seattle would like to remake the Grizzlies into a new Sonics team.

piston boris, i'll agree with you on this. but i was more on the lines of talking about t-mac. bringing in t-mac for 1 year will get many fans to come in. the town is quite thirsty for established talent and an all star player.

also, this is the city of memphis, different persay to the clippers in la, seattle, okc thunder, charlotte bobcats, etc.
