Chad Ford's Mock Draft (Lakers Picks)

Chad Ford's Mock Draft (Lakers Picks)

Postby Doc Brown on Wed Jun 22, 2011 1:12 pm

41. Los Angeles Lakers (from Golden State via New Jersey)

Nolan Smith | SG | Duke

The Lakers need to replace Derek Fisher at some point and Smith would be a great candidate. They are both combo guards who have toughness and can shoot the ball. Smith would be a great fit in L.A.

46. Los Angeles Lakers (From New York)

Malcolm Thomas | PF | San Diego State

Thomas is an elite athlete who can run the floor, rebound and block shots. He's still raw offensively, but he has lots of upside for the 46th pick.

56. Los Angeles Lakers

DeAndre Liggins | SG | Kentucky

It's doubtful the Lakers keep all of these second-round picks. If they do, Liggins is one of the best defenders in the draft. With Ron Artest aging, Liggins could be a solid pick here.

58. Los Angeles Lakers (From Miami)

Julyan Stone | SG | UTEP

The Lakers like big point guards and they like defenders, and Stone fits the bill. Just don't ask him to score.

Solid 4 picks IMO for what would be out there in the 2nd round.

^ Well I couldn't see it.

It seems to be the consensus that we'll make those picks or at least the Nolan Smith pick and the Julyan Stone pick.

I watched Malcolm a little bit this last season. He's kind of the opposite of Caracter. He doesn't really have much of an offensive game and he's very athletic. Caracter isn't as good of a defender either. I wouldn't be mad at that pick. I don't know if he could make the team over Caracter, but he's worth a shot.

Im sure from the 4 picks, Lakers will get at least 1-2 that will make the team next season.

They should also buy the 28th pick from Chicago, just ahead of San Antonio, and draft Nikola Mirotic.

i'd like the lakers to get a look at nolan smith in camp. i'm really wondering if they'll even keep one pick, though. my guess is they sell at least two of them (or flip them for future 2nds).

I know.. if they bought that pick, they would probably pick a PG. I just really like Mirotic.

So if they bought that pick... they should take a Forward... :man3:

So here's whats gonna happen tomorrow, we're gonna sell 2 out of the 4 2nd round picks for cash and future picks (Like the 2014 2nd round pick from Cleveland, like thats supposed to impress someone) and then use 1 on a Euro guy who's gonna stay back there and use 1 more on draft camp fodder

I'm saying, I agree with you, I think they would pick a PG in they bought that pick. I'm saying I like Mirotic, I think he's gonna be a good player, and he's an interesting choice. IMO the PG we might pick late in the 1st round, and the one we might pick early in the 2nd round, won't be much different.

that's all

But you do know that they won't pick him right? It's just your preference? Sorry my mind is working slowly on this one. :man10:

If they can nab a pick in the first round, they'll draft a PG no doubt.

nolan smith
malcolm lee
josh selby
tyler honeycutt
shelvin mack

if lakers are luck to get 2 of these players, i think almost everyone has to give them a draft grade of B or higher

There's no way Honeycutt falls to 41. Most mock drafts have him going somewhere in the 20's. But to be honest, I don't think Honeycutt's going to be all that great. For our team, I'd much rather have Lee if we're gonna go with a Bruin. He's quick and a great defender. I don't think he has starter potential, but he could be a decent back up.

and memphis gets an a- for gambling on josh selby

if u pick lee and selby, i'm sure every analyst would at least give us a B

i think jenkins would have been an appropriate choice @41 as well. (the logo got him)
----
anyways
the draft is over and it's not about pleasing the analysts as much as it is about being right in the end.
i'm happy with morris and goudelock
i think i've warmed up to goudelock a bit more. maybe he can be our new derek fisher. not the best athlete, but hit 3s when we need them the most.

Looks like all of Chris Ford's picks were wrong.

the draft was turned upsidedown after tristan thompson
i dont think many mock drafts could accurately predict at that point.
