Hoops Report: Chatter - Will Jazz Draft Knight or Kanter?

Hoops Report: Chatter - Will Jazz Draft Knight or Kanter?

Ryan Feldman of The Hoops Report wrote:I'm hearing the Utah Jazz really like Brandon Knight but aren't sure if they want him at No. 3 or to trade down. The interest may not be mutual from Brandon Knight, but he will reportedly be in Utah on Thursday for a private workout. We'll see how Knight and the Jazz feel about each other after that.

Even though the Jazz like Knight, they still might draft Enes Kanter as the best player available and look to trade.

The Jazz are actively looking for a trade partner at No. 4, No. 5 or No. 6. The problem is that those teams aren't sure Kanter will be gone before then if the Jazz pass on him.

A Wizards trade makes sense with the Jazz, but the Wizards think Kanter may slip to them and they'd still be happy with a few other guys.

It's not that Brandon Knight doesn't want to play for the Jazz. Knight just isn't convinced yet that the Jazz are the best fit for him.

After meeting with the Jazz on Thursday, Knight may change his mind and end up loving the idea of playing for the Jazz. Only time will tell.

Toronto and Sacramento love Brandon Knight and he'd be happy playing for either young team. Both teams have exciting young up-and-coming star wings such as Tyreke Evans and DeMar DeRozan. The Jazz don't seem to be as "sexy" in Knight's eyes. This could all change after his meeting with the Jazz on Thursday. He just wants to know that Utah's the right fit. Then again, that may not matter. The Jazz could draft Knight regardless of how he feels. Knight will be happy being the third pick.

The dilemma the Jazz have is that if they take Kanter, what if nobody wants to trade with them and they're stuck with him? That is, of course, if they don't have a trade pre-arranged, which is possible.

The Jazz have to figure out if they'd be happy keeping Kanter if a trade doesn't work out. Or would they rather just take Knight? It's a tough decision.

The other dilemma for the Jazz is if they take Knight, who do they take at No. 12? The better option might be to take Kanter and then Jimmer or Kemba.

The NBA Draft is about balancing value with getting your guy, and maximizing picks. How do the Jazz maximize No. 3 and No. 12? They have a lot to think about between now and June 23.

The Jazz like Kemba and Jimmer. They always have liked them. They think Kanter might be the best player available and could have trade value. But they love Knight.

What do they do? They could draft Kanter. They could keep Kanter or try to trade him. They could get Jimmer or Kemba at No. 12. They could draft Knight at No. 3 and a number of guys at No. 12. They have plenty of options at this point.

This could all change if the Timberwolves take Kanter or trade with a team that takes Kanter at No. 2. Then, the Jazz would almost certainly take Derrick Williams.
