Hoops Report: NBA Draft Chatter -- 6/22

Ryan Feldman of The Hoops Report wrote:I was told by a trusted league source today in New York at NBA Draft media day that Bismack Biyombo has a medical red flag with is back.

Biyombo's medical report was handed out to every single NBA team by his agent. At least one team's medical staff decided there was an issue with his back that they deemed a red flag. The source said some teams may have decided it wasn't that much of an issue, but some teams have decided it is an issue.

The source said there are also some question marks on the medical report regarding Biyombo's knees, but the source said his knees weren't enough of an issue to be considered a red flag.

A similar situation came up a couple years ago with DeJuan Blair, who was projected as a lottery pick, and he fell all the way to the second round.

It's unlikely Biyombo falls that far in this NBA Draft. The league source said they still think Biyombo goes either No. 8 to the Pistons or No. 9 to the Bobcats.

If Biyombo somehow gets past No. 9, he could be available for the Bobcats' next pick at No. 19.

Biyombo worked out Wednesday in New York for the Knicks, which hold the No. 17 pick.

Here's what else I'm hearing after talking to NBA GMs and other executives today:

An NBA GM said the word is the T-Wolves might draft Enes Kanter with the No. 2 pick. But with this news just coming out a day before the draft, it has to be a smokescreen. Minnesota is simply trying to entice a trade with the Wizards instead of letting them make a trade with the Jazz.

The same NBA GM also said the Jazz might pass on Derrick Williams if the T-Wolves actually did draft Kanter. This would be shocking to say the least. But it's highly unlikely the T-Wolves actually pass on Williams anyway.

A league source said Kemba Walker, Marcus Morris, Markieff Morris and Alec Burks are the top green room candidates that could slide further than expected.

The same league source said they've heard Kawhi Leonard is the Kings' top target. But a trusted source told me earlier this week that the Kings are targeting Kemba Walker and Jan Vesely over Leonard and Jimmer Fredette.
