Laker moving up in the draft? Lakers worked out Brandon Roy

Postby lilkhmerkid4u on Mon May 29, 2006 8:10 am

Contrary to published reports, Brandon Roy will not be working out only for teams selecting in the top five of this year’s Draft, as members of his camp had stated earlier. DraftExpress learned this week that Roy has already worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers, and will be in New Orleans sometime in the near future. With no first round pick in this year’s Draft, many might wonder why a top-10 prospect in Brandon Roy was willing to work out for the Lakers this past week. DraftExpress has been told by numerous sources on the West coast over the past few weeks that the Lakers are exploring the option of moving up, and are interested in both Marcus Williams of UConn and Brandon Roy of Washington. I would love to get Brandon Roy, he was one of the most underrated players in College Bball last year, hes a do everything player that would fit nicely into the lineup..

But the question always is at what price

Roy is a shooting guard. The Lakers don't need a shooting guard. And the Lakers working out a good player projected in the lottery doesn't mean they are thinking about moving up in the draft. There are always those players who drop down (think Jameer Nelson) and Los Angeles would want to see what type of players are in the entire draft, not just 20-26th projected.

During season, I saw once Roy (In 2OT loss to Arizona) where he made game tying bucket and had very good game.
I wouldn't have anything against to move up in draft and draft him or Marcus Williams. He's great passer and ball handler, so maybe we could use him as PG.

groom him to be a tri point guard. Dont need a true point guard.
