Eric Pincus:
The Lakers can't trade their pick until after they make the selection. I hear that it's available although they may have interest in Nick Calathes (if he's still on the board) since he's already planning on playing overseas next year. LA will have a hard enough time paying to keep the team they have together. I don't think they're too interested in adding guaranteed money at the bottom of the first round.
The NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers will likely unload at least one of their three draft picks.
They have the 29th pick in the first round and the 42nd and 59th picks in the second round of Thursday's draft.
General manager Mitch Kupchak said Wednesday that there was a "better than even likelihood" the team would get rid of its first-round pick.
"There's a lot of interest, absolutely," he said. "Certain teams, they may want to preserve cap space for the next year or two and they may need to add players. A good way to add talent at a fixed price is to have a lot of draft choices and then you can still maintain cap space a year from now."

then rolls the dice with our 2nd round picks and hope to find a steal, if we don't, then o well
I mean technically he has found a gem in the 2nd round (M Gasol) already, just so happens we traded him
I think Mitch can do it again

Luke and Ronny were pretty good second round picks too.
