As a "pure (naive)" basketball fan, I don't like it obviously. The Lakers could've got a solid player in the first round who they could either stash overseas until he blossoms, send to the Dev. league, or bring to camp and see if he can make a splash. Also, now the Draft is doubly boring to watch!!
still, putting my adult hat back on, I understand that running a team is a business, and that Buss needs to open his wallet this summer to retain this team. If the Lakers don't sign LO, Ariza and Brown after selling this draft pick, then I'll be annoyed. As of now, I understand the pick and won't gripe.

Now that the Lakers have traded the #29 pick, I hope either Sergio Lull or Darren Collison may be available at the Lakers's #42 pick. Mitch have said he wanted to keep the roster of 13, so the combo PG/SG Sergio Lull looks better, as he can stay in Europe for another year.

Would have been fun to watch us take a guy in the first round since it hasn't happened in two years, but this was necessary.

Nice job by Mitch to get cash back in return. And the fact that we got a 2nd rounder sweetens the deal a bit, although NY might be a good team by then making it a low one (hopefully they continue to suck right?).

I'm not ripping somebody else for anything. I just didn't like the fact that Kupchak "announced" the fact that he was trying to
get rid of the pick. I could care less about that 1st round pick. It wouldn't have gotten us anything impressive anyway..Kupchak
needs to learn the art of "keeping it to yourself".

They got 3 million and a second round pick. What did you expect them to get? The $3 million is the most money possible per rules. What difference does it make if it he announced it or not? The fact he announced it may have gotten LA more. Yesterday it was reported they expected to get about 1 million or so for the pick. The fact he announced it may have gotten Denver and NY in a bidding war.
