The Washington Wizards have acquired Minnesota Timberwolves guards Randy Foye(notes) and Mike Miller(notes) for Etan Thomas(notes), Oleksiy Pecherov(notes) and Darius Songaila and the fifth pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, a league executive with knowledge of the deal told Yahoo! Sports.

Imagine if the Wiz get Stoudemire somehow. :man4:

Randy has been very disappointing, plus many fans kinda feel even worse about himbecause they traded roy away for him

Why would you want Foye when you have 100+ invested in Gilbert? I guess they can try to convert him to the 2guard.

I don't think you deal this pick until you're on the clock. Unless you KNOW for a fact what Memphis is doing. I don't think they do. I don't think anyone does. Chris Wallace will make a decision and the change his mind at least six times between now and draft night. Ever since the Pau deal, I've heard (I think Chad Ford talked about this) he's so hesitant to make a deal that a team will think they have a deal with him, only for him to call them back 30 minutes later and say it's off.

Point being, what if Rubio is there at 5? I think Rubio is better than this package. And until you know what's going on there, I don't do this deal. I think it is too soon. (I think in time Evans will be better than this package, but that's a few years from now and the Wizards don't want to wait).

They unloaded Songaila, which is nice. They have Michelle Miller's expiring now. They still have some pieces. IF they can go out and get a legit big now, (say Amare or Shaq), then Grunfeld deserves a standing ovation. But if they don't and they 1) did this trade too soon, 2) didn't get a big out of the deal; then in my book it's a failed move on their part.

Surprising and interesting at the same time.

Minn has like 32092093238294329043 picks in the 1st round.

Wolves now going to keep both 5th and 6th pick?

ESPN wrote:The Wolves would then keep the draft pick and their own selection at No. 6 and not try to package those to move up, a source told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.

This is clearly a good trade for the Wizards because this is a weak draft class...no1 really @ the 5th pick would make a major impact for for Wizards. The Wolves are clearly in rebuilding mode and Mike Miller and Foye aren't in their plans.

Now with Gilbert/Foye/Butler/Jamison/Haywood and good bench players starting with Mike Miller (who has potential to be 6th man of the year type of producer), Nick Young and Blatche....they clearly have tons of fire power. The big questions are will they play together and compete on defense?? Some expert had say the Wiz had potential to be a 50 win team in the East next season and I certainly agree.

Not to mention with the trade they have more options in probably trading one of their big three for a formidable big to deepen their front court.

Wow Wizards messed this up and i'll tell you why,

They lack big men, Brendan Haywood has been off battling injuries and cannot defend that well,
last we heard of Etan Thomas he's been injured and then came back only to have heart problems sideline him.
Jamieson is a tweener, although a good player their is no way he can guard premier big men.

Wizards have no hope for containing any bigs, they needed to make a move for Amare and they blew it, they always had sick guard play but what good does that do when the big men keep scoring in bunches.

And now with Mike Miller, Foye, Gilbert clogging majority of backcourt mins what happens to Javaris Critt who showed a lot of promise and Nick Young????

Wow. 5th and 6th pick for minnesota?

What if Rubio falls to them (5th Pick), then pick up Demar Derozen (6th pick)

Ricky Rubio
Demar Derozen
Insert SF
Kevin Love
Al jefferson

Not bad for a rebuilding club. If rubio is gone, then curry could still be available.

I really feel sorry for Critt. I think he has a lot of potential and talent but he's never been given the opportunity to show it. He played well in flashes for us behind Farmar but Memphis and Washington haven't given him much of an opportunity.

probably have to throw in a SF (LUKE) or we'll be too crowded in that position..Mike Miller is more of a 3 but we can also play the 2 when Kobe is on the bench.

Last i heard i read a washington post peice on him and it basically said the coaching staff was really impressed
with the work ethic he has showed and he has really worked hard since the off-season in developing a jumper.

The coaching staff seems to love him and his hard work ethic, he has alot of potentiol and hopefully he
gets the mins to showcase his talents, but the team is stacked on guards
