NBA 2011 Draft Discussion Thread

Skeen, Lighty I would have drafted with the last two picks, just to see what they had in camp.

David Lighty and Ben Hansbrough also undrafted

I agree with Mitch. Goudelock for sure. He will make this team as a shooter next season.

It's beyond me. When you have players like Jamie Skeen and Lighty avaliable, why pick players who are guaranteed not to make this team or any NBA team. Really, why even bother making those picks, just trade them. They're useless. I just don't get it.

You wanted to see what Lighty has in camp? Well wonderful, invite him. Nothing has been lost there. He's 22, and not a super athlete/potential kind of guy. There is no reason to stash him overseas to see what he might turn into, because he is already a known quantity. If he has what you want, you sign him. If he doesn't, you don't waste time protecting his draft rights just to see what might develop.

If you think someone may have the talent to maybe develop into something a couple years down the road, you pick him with a second rounder so that you OWN HIS RIGHTS later, just in case he develops into something later after you stash him. It's easy to say "We could have just invited him to camp.." well, yes, but then you wouldn't have his rights, so unless you're planning to sign him immediately, you've already lost him.

I don't care about Chuckybear, as it looks like he's already been traded. In those youtube vids, Ater Majok seemed to possess some athleticism to go with some really nice length. He did some things very well in that workout vid. That's exactly the kind of guy I would be tempted to protect the rights to, just in case he turns into something later.

Edit: Ok, I spoke too soon about chukwudiebere maduabum. I hope he makes it into the league and starts for a decade on a team with a lot of TV time, because it'll make me happy every time I hear his name. That name totally owns metta worldpeace.

I'm happy. Morris sucks at shooting but he is one of the most improved guards in the country.

great size, gets into the lane, good mid-range shooter. Not a good shooter, defense is so-so especially he struggles IMO to go through screens.

But given the age and potential he has a solid chance to stick in this league.

Also we finally got a good shooter.
