Pistons interested in moving up for DeMarcus Cousins

Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News wrote:Picking seventh, the Pistons hope to move up in the draft from the No. 7 spot to the 4-5 range (Minnesota, Sacramento) to get Kentucky big man DeMarcus Cousins. Despite maturity issues, Cousins has the kind of low-post skills that Joe Dumars is seeking.

Pistons No Longer Trying To Move Up For DeMarcus Cousins

Pistons No Longer Trying To Move Up For DeMarcus Cousins

The Pistons are no longer making calls in an effort to move up in Thursday night's NBA Draft, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Detroit was believed to be interested in moving up for DeMarcus Cousins, but they are now content to choose between Greg Monroe and Ed Davis.

"Detroit's no longer making calls to move up in draft and planning to stay at No. 7, league sources say. Greg Monroe tops Ed Davis on board," Adrian Wojnarowski wrote on his Twitter page.

The Pistons got word that the Warriors were interested in Epke Udoh, so they started focusing on Greg Monroe.

No complaints here. Monroe's the most skilled big man in the draft: he can pass, handle the ball in transition, rebound, score with both hands around the basket, has a solid 15 foot jumper, is a solid citizen, and a high basketball IQ.

He doesn't need to be molded and guided like Cousins does. With last year's draft picks, Detroit's front court is looking good for the future.

when i watched Monroe, I couldn't help but think of Odom. similar builds, and Monroe is actually a very adept passer. Cousins may have more potential to be a superstar, but also far more likely of turning into a headcase.
Go Buffs.

You're not the only one to see the comparison to Odom. Monroe is also being likened to Bill Walton.

As for Cousins, he and the Pistons had some productive talks. Cousins wanted to come to Detroit, so there was a chance he would've attempted to fit in.

Monroe's a great consolation prize, though.
