Shannon Brown enters his name in draft

Postby JSM on Mon Apr 24, 2006 9:05 am

Draft Express: Sources told DraftExpress over the weekend that Michigan State Junior Shannon Brown will be entering his name in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Brown is expected to submit his paperwork this week and conduct a number of workouts to see where he stands in the draft. Brown will be preserving his college eligibility by not hiring an agent, and will likely only stay in the draft is he’s assured of being a 1st round pick. He could either hold a public workout for interested NBA teams at Michigan State or even the Orlando pre-draft camp to attempt to raise his stock.

He polished and improved his overall scoring ability and jumpshooting this season. In terms of point guard skills? Not really. However, there is no denying his athleticism, run-and-gun ability and his ability to shoot, and there has been a history of undersized two-guards such as Fred Jones succeeding as decent role players. I'd prefer he wait another year and perhaps improve himself even more with Maurice Ager and Paul Davis so he would become the man of MSU, but if he decides to enter, he's a bubble first rounder--I would put him more in the early 2nd round barring good workouts.
