Shelden Williams Has A Promise In Top-5?

Philadelphia Inquirer: Sources said that Williams has pulled out of scheduled workouts with teams in the second half of the top 10 - including Minnesota, which picks sixth - indicating that a team in the top five has made a commitment to Williams that it will take him.

Who would be dumb enough to take him with a first 5 pick? No doubt, he will be a solid NBA player, but he's been playing horribly in workouts. If a top 5 team is interested in him, they could probably trade for a 13...14 pick and still be able to get him.

i would guess portland would choose him cuz pyrzbilla prolly isnt returning....
if they do take him...theyre gettin horrible value for the pick :man10:

its just a hunch from his college days, but i honestly think he'll end up one of the better players out of this draft class a few years down the line.

i know what you guys are saying though...where he stands right now...top 5 just seems a little high.

Toronto: Doubt It. They could have ANYONE, why him.
Chicago: Same As Tor.
Charlotte: Said tobe all over Roy and Morrison
Portland: They need size, might feel all the other bigs will already be gone
Atlanta: Same as Atl but word is that they want Marcus Williams

i don't think shelden will end up being a solid player.

The scary thing is the Hawks reportedly really like Shelden and there were rumors they might trade down to take him. If they promised him a top 5 pick, I'll shoot Knight.

well they need a PG and a PF so Sheldon would make perfect sense...
they don´t need swingmen. They can always trade a talented swing player for a PG. Or they work on a sign and trade for Harrington. There is no point guard worth the 5th pick, so that pick would make sense. They can´t use Roy, Gay, Morrison and all the top SFs, so they might just go with Sheldon Williams...

I tought Hawks will just draft best player available and I think they should do it instead of making promises.

It is probaly the Hawks. They need a PF BADLY. I wouldn't be shocked if t hey trade up to get the 2nd pick in the draft.

why would anybody promise shelden williams a top 5 spot? what is the point of it? it doesn't really do any good. it's not like he needs a promise in order to stay in the draft...he was already a senior.
usually the point of making promises like that is to make sure that he stays available to you.
