The Lakers own Boris Diaw?

The Lakers worked out this guy along w/Roy...

Marcus Vinicius Vieira De Souza (Marquinhos) sounds like a fascinating player...

Marquinhos measured out very well at 6’10 with shoes, with a 6’11 ½ wingspan and a 34 inch vertical jump. He shot the ball well from the outside and looked good in the two on two portion of the drill. The source was pretty clear that Marquinhos really showed in the two on two drills that he was the best fit for the triangle offense due to his size and skill package.

You mentioned Diaw in title of this topic, cuz you think that he has potential to be next Diaw?
Anyway, they predict him late 1st round and his best case scenario would be Rashard Lewis, not bad.

Brazilians always have long names, but to make name shorter, they pick nickname. Example are soccer players Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, etc.

not so much that we use nicknames, we use the first name most of the times...

we normally have at least two family names.. so.. that´s why...

Interesting player, actually, the kind of player that the Brazilian national team has been needing for a while now, a good SF. He´s another guy who left for Europe at a young age, and came back last year. I´m really happy that his stock is rising, and he´s looking like a lock to be drafted.

btw he doesn´t really fit the Diaw comparison, Marquinhos cant play the post like Diaw. Lewis is a better outlook for him, hopefully he can meet that comparison someday.

Diaw?

Sounds more like somone we already have on the roster:

To start with, he doesn't take advantage enough of his size. He rarely leaves the perimeter, and when he does take his defender down low it's usually to keep on shooting. He's too focused on his perimeter game, and could certainly use a little more versatility, working on ways to finish near the basket with higher percentages. Besides, his love for the perimeter is correlated to his movement without the ball, it's too poor right now. He should be cutting much more often, trying to take advantage closer to the basket, or just to find open positions in the mid-range area.

I have read up on Marcus Vinicius a while ago and I was intrigued by his strengths but his weaknesses are kind of whack; doesn't like to play D and doesn't bang for a 6-9/6-10 guy. Good pick for late in the first round but there are some potential instant impact players who play D and can contribute offensevely and defensevely and to be working out Roy...possible trade up....I am more intrigued with that...Roy is similar to Wade (the person we should have gotten in the Shaq trade!)...That is EXCITING!!!

marquinhos doesn´t get inside that much, cuz he´s not physicaly gifted like Odom...
he´ll have to bulk up to bang with the big guys in the NBA
