UCLA's Farmar and Afflalo to Test Draft

UCLA's Farmar and Afflalo to Test Draft

Postby Da Veinticuatro on Thu Apr 20, 2006 1:23 pm

I heard this the other day, forgot to post about it. What do you Ruins fans think? I cant see either of these guys as good pros, but Im interested to see where they would go right now. 2nd round Im assuming? I think Afflalo is more likely to go pro, Farmar looks like he will return.

Why? It doesn't matter what religion you are on the b-ball court.

I still think Farmar would benefit with a year in college and a trip to the weight room every now and then. As for Afflalo, he has the potential to be a pretty good defender as well as offensive player.

If you want Jews in the NBA, just look at Owners/Management!

David Stern, Donald Sterling, Bruce Ratner, Mark Cuban, Larry Brown, Lawrence Frank, Abe Pollin, Ernie Grunfeld, Mickey Arison. They are everywhere!

Who cares what race and/or religion he is. He doesn't seem NBA ready. At least from my observations.

Afflalo though can be something. He has those long arms and great lateral speed. At most he can be a Luol Deng type player. If he slips and Saer Sene is off, the Lakers should select him.

I especially like Afflalo has a player, but he seriously needs another year. He has a leadership-type mentality, good scoring/shooting ability and a potential two-way skill set, but there are many players like him in the NBA already, and if he can show some new aspect of his game (more drives to the basket, better passing ability, etc.) that would make him even more versatile and even more of a commodity for the NBA. Of course, he's had a drastic improvement from his freshman to sophomore year, and has hence raised his stock to bubble first round level IMO, but if he wants to establish himself firmly into the first round he needs to return back to college a la Brandon Roy.

As for Farmar, he's more into the first round than Afflalo is, but he could still afford another year of college. Actually this year's crop of PGs is fairly weak and he might have an opportunity to crack the #25-30 range, but he can afford to show even better playmaking and consistency in his jumpshot, even though both have improved slightly. Again, questions concerning his defense and athleticism, but his talent is undeniable; like Afflalo, he can take his game into another level in UCLA next year and put himself firmly into the mid-1st round or even late lottery.

We need a point guard, but not one who is as slow as farmar is. He could be a liability defensively. He may be an upgrade over smush on defense , farmar is a smart defender. I would rather go for a speedy point guard, something we lack on this years roster.
