What do you guys think of Brandon Knight becoming a Laker?

Postby KentuckyLaker on Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:33 am

As we all know, a new point guard is a must for the Lakers. Since I live in Kentucky, I'm a UK fan and I watched Brandon Knight every game this season. I think that he would be a great young option for us. I realize that he is a projected top five pick and we'd have to trade for him, but I think it would be worth a shot. He's got good size (6-3, 185), he can knock down the three, he's quick enough to guard the Rondo's and Rose's of the world, etc.

I'd love to see him in purple and gold and I've heard that Mitch would too. What do you guys think about this?

I would be a happy happy man if that happened without losing any of our core players. But I don't see any scenario where that could happen.

The only way I could see it happening is if we trade for Minnesota's pick at #2. I've heard that they want to get rid of that pick. I really don't know how we would get it though without losing one of our core guys, like you said.

Bynum or Odom are gone if the Lakers get anywhere near Knight so don't bet on it.

I would gladly give Lamar up in a second, if it meant us being able to nab Kyrie Irving. He would be perfect for this franchise, and give us our franchise point guard, we need. Too bad, that's not happening.

I'm still holding out hope for John Wall when his rookie deal comes off the books, as we will have Kobe, Pau, Ron, Lamar and Blake all as expiring contracts to offer, plus a trade exemption if we don't use it by them. Please Jesus...give us a star point guard :jam2:

Irving might be available at 2 also
Dwight, what's your decision. Dwight Howard - In this fall, this is very tough, in this fall I'm going to take my talents to Hollywood and join the Los Angeles Lakers

It'd be great to have any of the nice young PGs that are available in the first round this year, but it won't happen unless the Lakers give up some core player(s).

No way the wolves will give up love and #2 for a guy is his 30s. You don't give up your future

Yea, I'd trade Odom for a lotto pick at this point. Odom's important, but so is our future.

I'm glad to hear some of your all's opinions on this. Personally, I think Knight has more star power and a higher ceiling than anyone in the draft. He will turn heads once he gets in the league. The guy is a relentless worker and like Kobe, he strives for greatness and is never satisfied.

my assessment of brandon knight
basically he's a variation of jrue holiday - he doesn't play like a 1, too small for a 2; less passing, more shooting
not nearly the defensive player that jrue holiday was, but he's definitely above average
a better shooter than jrue (comparing college careers, probably not now) despite his mechanics looking a little stiff.
otherwise, jrue is more fit to play pg role than knight. knight is more likely to turn out like jason terry. he loves chucking the 3 ball and can make them.

Let's trade Lamar for Dwight instead. If that doesn't work, we can trade Lamar for Durant or CP3.

Lamar will come with a Kardashian.

What do you think?

if the Lakers can get him, I would be very happy. It will be tough though without giving up a core player.

Paul Gasol ( :man1: )

for

# 2 / Love / Wesley J. / Beasley / Milicic / Ellington

Sounds like a crazy deal, but if Minny thinks that Paul ( :man1: ) is worth anything less than that they are the crazy ones.
