He plays excellent D, is a physical freak with crazy hops, has a solid J with an incredible elevation...a 2-way player who WILL BE an all-star IMO =-)

fix the title. "You tell me how Rudy Gay isn't a top 3 pick..."
:man1: j/k
I don't know. many of articles say that he lacks killer instinct, and is quite inconsistent. one night he can score 30, but next game can score 6. :man5:

Rudy Gay is a top 3 player without a doubt. As a matter of fact, If you are looking for a superstar at the #1 pick, Gay is the only player that I would consider. The guy has all the tools and would probably flourish in a more wide open game like the NBA.

I agree that he definitely has all the tools to become a great player in the NBA. My only concern, and its one that others share, is that he just doesn't have the competitive level some might expect of a top pick in the draft. I could certainly be wrong here, having not seen him play a lot.

If I were to compare him to a current pro I guess he reminds me the most of Marion, who, last I checked was a quality pro. However, if the Lakers had the choice between this guy and Roy, I would hope they would choose Roy. His comparison in my eyes is Wade.

Really, I don't think it would be awful if the Lakers somehow managed to get Gay. However, if they had that top 3 pick, I'd prefer Roy.

He's going to be the G.Green of this draft. He probaly won't go 18 like Green but, probaly will go 8-16 and during his career people will wonder why he was selcted so low.

I don't think it would be a mistake to draft Gay in the top three. I actually think that he's the most talented guy in the draft.

I think Gay suffered last year from the fact that he played with so much high level talent. That team was full of players who wanted the ball every time down the court.

I could see Gay down the road as a great second or third option on a championship level team, a la Glenn Rice or James Worthy. Then again, he could be Shareef Abdur Rahim.

I wish we would come up with a trade for Garnett that includes Minnesota's first round pick and we draft Gay. A nucleus of Kobe, KG, and Gay wouldn't be half bad. :man9:

i dont think he's going to end up as a right away impact player which in a lot of draft classes you'd be looking to get with that high of a pick.

he's got the physical tools, but with some work on his game he could end up the best player in the class down the line.

ruddy gay is those guys like kendall gill, bruce bowen, tayshaun, scottie + his athleticism. rodney carney is the vince paul pierce or marion. either way, they need to put muscle on their bodies.

it seems like uconn guys get bad reps in the drafts (butler slipped, hamilton went prety low, villanova was called a bad pick) but they turn out fine in the nba, i think whatevr team gets gay will get a good return on their investment, but who knows.

i think its because they are fundamentally sound and understand the game of basketball. they have nothing flashy but they get the job done. im not a big fan of gay, but i know this dude is going to deliver like karl malone

He'll be picked by the bobcats, book it.

he won't be an all-star. Aldrige won't be one either. Both will be very good players, but no all-stars. The only all-star I see in this draft is Andrea Bargnani, and he is a project.

Consistency is the flag here. I dunno. I want Roy. I can't get myself excited about other teams' picks.
Was compared to Scottie, though...
