No, he's expected to play in the opener. I know this because I double checked before drafting him in one of my Fantasy Basketball league.

Many believed he was going to have a really good season this year, but sadly he continues to be the victim of various injuries.

I drafted Melo so hopefully he's able to take advantage of the situation and put up high efficient numbers, especially if he plays some time at PF.
