Good for him. Better to be safe than sorry.

You're right that's exactly why, up top he looks scraggly and unkempt and it makes me think he's out of shape all over when he's clearly not.

Key word: precautionary. I'll always be grateful for Bynum's contributions to the two rings won [albeit he was in less than 100%] and wishing that he along with his Sixer crew give the current East incumbents hell.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

So why didn't he have this procedures in the summer so that he has time to recover? See where his priorities are and now he has to miss training camp and will be behind on things.

This is Drew we're talking about, not exactly someone who gets into NBA condition quickly. Has to adjust to new team, plays, etc t

Asked if he should have opted to have had the procedure done earlier, Bynum said he was told by the physician who performed the procedure, Peter Wehling, that it was best to have the procedure done right before training camp.

Did he ask the same physician who did Shaq's big toe? Because anyone that tells you to get a reparative procedure done without giving your body time to heal is an idiot.

"Basketball reasons" is as believable coming from Mitch Kupchak as it was coming from David Stern. #IWantedPhil
