Andrew Bynum Discussion: Out for the season, 2x knee surgery

I can't believe the lack of remorse he has. There's no security in his situation and if in things go very badly, the chance of him being run out of the league in 3-4 years is plausible. It might not be likely, Bynum should at least handle the situation with more care.

But this is his story. Immature & ungrateful for the opportunities he's had. Everything from training with Kareem to winning titles with the Lakers. Hell, Mitch even did him a favor by sending him back to his hometown. And how does he respond? Blow it off and act like a little kid to the press. Bravo, Drew.

I am so very, very glad I don't spend time in my day thinking about Bynum as Laker anymore. Out of sight, out of mind

Drew has knee problems, most likely will need surgery during the season = everyone rags on him.

Brandon Roy has knee problems and gets knee surgery during the season = everyone wishing him well.

The difference: Brandon Roy works his butt off and actually cares about getting back on the court.

Contract year, still major issues with the knees, showing no sign of maturity or responsibility...

For a guy that expects to get Max Money, he's sure not helping his cause.

I gave Drew the benefit of the doubt for a long time while he was in LA, obviously he's had some incredible performances and we all knew the potential was there. But I am glad he is gone at this point and am ready to eat crow over having defended him.

You know what's sad about this whole thing?

29 other NBA teams would STILL throw the max at him despite his knee troubles because there are no other bigs that are like Bynum in next year's FA class.

This is why Bynum is acting like a jerk and not really worrying about his knees as much as everyone else is. And this is why everyone in Philly is freaking out. If i were philly, I'd try to trade him as soon as possible..even if it means selling him low...at least get something for him.

Did i mention how happy I am to not have this jerk on our team any more?

^^^What if said team couldn't find an insurer for Bynum's next contract?? Would that affect potential suitors? We know that the Knicks gave Amare a max deal, but it's uninsured which pretty much makes him untradeable. IMO, these latest setbacks and errors in judgement may affect the insurability of his next contract.

That's a great point. I mean if I was an NBA team I definitely wouldn't do the bynum deal unless the contract was insured. But my feeling is the teams that wouldn't do it unless there's insurance will get weeded out by the stupid teams that are DESPERATE for a big (Houston, Dallas, ATL, etc). The fact of the matter is, some stupid team is going to take the risk. Philly is not getting any discount on Bynum even if Bynum sits out this ENTIRE year.

I don't agree. His demeanor is more like "I don't know what the hell is going on". None of the doctors or training staff told him that he couldn't go bowling since it's a low-impact sport. Then he gets hurt. Even the reporters (who've covered pro sports for years) are shocked to hear that he damaged his cartilage while bowling.

I feel bad for Drew...oh well...

And here I was thinking Dwight's back would be a bigger issue than Drew's knee. Boy was I wrong...

Couldn't he just say he was playing Skyrim and took an arrow to the knee?

I bet he could still get MAX maybe fewer guranteed years.....lets not forget Arenas had major knee surgery that ended his season and that same off season Wiz still gave him a 120mill contract
