Andrew Goudelock Waived: no longer a Laker (pg 23)

Fisher needs to be a better leader by going to Mike Brown and suggesting that Goudelock gets more minutes. It's apparent that Mike Brown is so scared of rocking the boat since he can't coach that he can't bare to bench Fisher.

Blake's a better player than Goudelock; Brown doesn't really play rookies either (this is a historical point); but I'm happy with how Goudelock is playing. Shooting well.

I would be happier with Blake and Glock being our PG rotation.

this guy should be averaging 22+mpg. he's our 2nd best guard and to sit him for any reason is ridiculous IMO

Just think, if Jeremy Lin were on our team and scored 38 points one game, he would still get benched the next game. That's how clueless our coach is. :bang:

I'd like to see a reporter asking Mike Brown why Fisher is playing way more minutes than GLock

I mean you have to invent a new adjective to describe this situation ... ridiculous or mind blowing aren't strong enough

He came in and got hot tonight, that was really fun to see from him. The floaters, the 3's, he was feelin it and it showed, real spark off the bench offensively for us, and his defensive effort was good too.

Wish he could have played more than 13 minutes. Yeah, I know he's playing behind Kobe, but I'm sure there's a way to sacrifice some minutes from Blake and Fish.

This kid needs to start or at the very least play starters minutes. He's easily the 2nd best guard on the team.

Relegate Fisher to just 12 minutes per game (or even single digits). He lets other PGs gain confidence, and then Blake has to come in and try to cool them down. Fisher's minute should go down. Let Blake and Goudelock get more.

He needs more minutes. They need to run the Kobe/Blake/Glock lineup out there

Lin would never score 38 pts for us. He'd be benched most of the time and never have a chance to develop with playing time. Fish and Metta are killing our bench development, stolling all their minutes !!

^^ I agree with what's being said here. GLOCK can flat out score - that's something Fish can't seem to do any more. Blake got a lot of good minutes out there last night, but we could have used more from GLOCK who lit it up when given the chance. The kid is for real. I know he's a rook, but until the veteran leadership and occasional clutch shot really matter (post season) I think GLOCK should be eating up Fish's minutes. We need to start that transition now.

If we do end up getting either Arenas or Smith, I hope that doesn't mean the end of Glock as a rotation player.

Because this sounds like an extremely fun line-up to watch:
Goudelock, Smith, Bryant, Gasol, Bynum

He would be the odd man out IMO. Fisher's going to play.... So is Blake and who ever they get (Arenas or Smith) combine that with Kobe, Barnes and MWP and we have a pretty full rotation at the 1,2 and 3. That's 2 deep at each possition w/o Goudelock... My guess is that he gets token minutes unless we make a trade that clears room for him at the 2 by moving Smith (if we can get him) to the 3.

Even though he's a rookie, I see a clutch shooter in Goudelock. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. Doesn't look like he's scared of anybody. Reminds me of a young Fisher actually, or a Jordan Farmar.

Fisher needs to be a complete leader and tell Mike Brown that that Goudelock is better for team. I think that the PG issue can be solve if we settle in for a Blake-Goudelock rotation instead of messing with minutes.

I wouldn't mind seeing tri-guard line up in games with teams that have a smaller roster. I think Blake/Glock/Kobe together (like mentioned above) would finally spread the floor and get some rhythm in the offense. Then with Pau able to make the 12ftr's they could never just leave their man and double Kobe or Bynum.

^^What we'd like and what we will see are going to be two different things unfortunately..... Fisher is going to start for this team this season unless we get a top flight point guard..... which is unlikely. Even if we get that point guard, he's still going to play significant minutes..... probably at the expense of Blake. He is a "sage" of the team and is very well respected and will have to step aside this year. I do think we will buy him out in the off season or find another way to move him into the front office.....

Kid's got moxie... If the organization brings in Arenas or Smith, it will curtail his development unless said potential signees play the 3 spot.

Article about 2 weeks old but good stuff..

Ideally, Brown wanted to have Goudelock playing in the backup shooting guard role with Steve Blake serving as the substitute point guard. Brown tried it for a while, then went in another direction after Blake suffered a rib/sternum injury.

Goudelock stepped in as Derek Fisher's backup at the point the past four games.
"He's got that grit, he's got that will to perform well," Bryant said of Goudelock. "He's extremely aggressive. That's what mambas are. He's definitely got that DNA. Throw it up. Put that ball in the hole."

Goudelock was surprised by the reaction on Twitter and elsewhere to his new nickname. He was called G-Lock while he was a standout at the College of Charleston. Others called him Drew, but that was confusing when he joined the Lakers. Andrew Bynum, a 7-foot center, is known as Drew to his teammates.

"It shocked me," Goudelock said of Bryant's nickname for him. "He doesn't give me many compliments in practice. He's a pretty closed- mouthed guy when it comes to emotions and things like that. For him to show any emotions toward me was a thrill."

Goudelock can do a pretty fair imitation of Bryant with the ball in his hands. What he can't do is mimic the hissing snake noise Bryant makes when he wants his teammates to pass him the ball.

He tried it and failed miserably, cracking up Brown, Bryant and the rest of the Lakers after Tuesday's game.

"I can't do it," Goudelock said. "I tried it and it didn't work out too well."
