I'd take Durant, Bron, Kevin Love, and Westbrook over him. That's where it ends, for me. His defensive ability gives him the nod over Blake, in my opinion., although Blake is a much better scorer right now. In 3 years from now, he'll be easily the 2nd or 3rd best player in the world. 23 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks type of power forward/center stat-line guy. The new KG.

He needs to gain some muscle. Not necessarily mass, but definitely strength. He gets banged up a lot because he simply doesn't weigh enough.

As much as I think Westbrook and Chris Paul are severely overrated I still wouldn't put Davis in that category yet. Do it and get better for 3 to 5 years and we'll talk.

I think he actually suffers a bit from underexposure in NO. dude's every bit as impressive as young kg, imo.

You guys have to remember this guy is one of the youngest players in the league. He's only 20 years old, so I wouldn't worry about his lack of a go to move, etc. He's way ahead of the curve, and the scary thing is he's a lot better than Kevin Garnett was at the same age. I don't like putting a lot of stock into the PER stat, but he's a monster on defense, and averaging 20/10 with 3 blocks a game with a PER of 26. His rookie PER was the best ever. Davis is special, and I think he's a 'once in a decade' type big.

And yeah, outside of Lebron and Durant, I wouldn't trade him for anybody.

Yep, he will be the next great PF.

How long until we can place a bid for him? :man13:

Not to offend you or anything but you listed 10 players that you thought were more valuable than AD. I thought you were trolling me.

There aren't 10 players more valuable. There are only 2. KD and LB.

I've said it already, but I'll say it again, re-read what I said. i said "who i would take" right now. Meaning they are better RIGHT NOW. Meaning hes not the 3rd best RIGHT NOW. I then went on to say in a year or two he will probably be in the top 5, which further emphasized my point of NOT RIGHT NOW. when i think of MVP, I'm thinking "best player". He's not. And not 3rd either.

Read what you typed. You wrote that you agreed with what I said except that he's a top 3 most valuable player in the league. Meaning you thought AD isn't the player with the 3rd most value in the league right now.

It's post #3 just in case you forgot.

And plenty of people here have said they wouldn't trade AD for anyone but Durant or Lebron.

If you trade a monster 20 year old who plays defense and offense and has a PER of 26 and hasn't even reached his full potential yet, you're an idiot. Period.

Sigh.....

You keep saying MVP. Well, I'll put any amount of money you want that he won't be in the top 3 in MVP voting this year. Name your price. We can send the money to a mod and I'll donate 10% of my winnings to them for holding the money.

I said he's the 3rd most valuable in the league after Lebron and Durant - meaning if you were to trade him, only Lebron and Durant can get you Anthony Davis.

I didn't say he's going to get voted #3 for the MVP award.

yeah, the argument here seems to be semantics. the overarching point is that mosquito is correct: davis projects as a once-a-decade type player right now. much moreso than others who have received the hype (b. griffin, love, etc.). 28 teams in the league don't even have the assets it would take to get into the bidding for his services long term.

Tyreke Evans put up rookie numbers for a wing player that were unheard of...... So did Ralph Sampson. All sorts of things can happen.

I agree he's been impressive but to say he's top 3 in the league is a little much for me until he does it as a leader and grows each year. That's the test of a top player just as much as Fantasy stats.

i think the OP has a legit argument
only t2 is unarguable - kd and lebron

there is no clear cut #3 player in the league right now.
George, Melo, Love, Griffin, Paul, Harden, Westbrook, and Kyrie

out of the previously mentioned players, i would probably take AD over kyrie, wb, harden, griffin, love, and melo. paul george, cp3, and AD are basically a toss up for me at that point.

I'm sorry, but right now at least, I'd take Blake Griffin over Anthony Davis.

I do agree with this post in the fact that the ceiling of Anthony Davis is VERY high, he can pretty much be anything in this league. He may be a first ballot Hall of Famer, that's how good it is. But right now, he's still very far from that.

First thing is, while I do think he does play good defense, I probably don't rate him that high right now. He's incredible blocking shots and stealing passes, but he gets lost pretty often too. Right now, he's far from guys like Noah, Hibbert or Gasol (don't need to give name here, right?). Though sure, I do think with time he has all the assets to really become a force on defense.

But right now I'd take Ginger over Davis. The main reason is safety. Ginger is not a defensive force either (but he's far from being a hole on defense, like he used to be), and on offense, he's improved way too much. Last year he was a legit All-Star, but that was it. This year, he's becoming something more, he's really giving that step that goes beyond being just an All-Star, and that's the most difficult step. I don't like the Clippers, but truth is Ginger has become a decisive player on a very good team (by the way, don't say this too loud, but he's being even more imporant than CP3 for me this year).

So yeah, I don't deny the possibility that Anthony Davis may become even better, but right now, I know Blake Griffin is actually becoming a "next level player", while I don't know yet if Davis will manage to become one. Davis is ridiculously young and I trust he will become great (I wouldn't be surprised if six years from now he's in the MVP conversation), but for safety reasons, I'd choose Ginger, who's already showing an enormous development, and of course, while not as Davis, he's still very young.

i'm actually one of the last people to overhype young players. i'm definitely a "prove it over the long haul" guy. but davis is an easy call, imo. barring major injury, he's going to be special for a long time. i think the only guys i've said that about in the past ten years at the same stage were lebron, paul, and howard.

again, if you're NO, who would you trade him for? the answer is almost nobody. definitely lebron, probably durant. after that, the current output plus upside is just too large.

Anthony Davis' last 5 games:

33/14/2.8/1/3.4/1.6TO

For the season, Anthony Davis is #4 in PER.

This guy is 20 years old.

My goodness. We found the next superstar.

I'm still taking Ginger over Davis... today... for now....

But my goodness, what a beast he's becoming with just 21 years. It's like we need a telescope to find were his ceiling might be

Kid is a beast. Top 10 player right now (behind KD and Bron) but on the level of Griffin, Love, Westbrook. If he can stay healthy, we may witness something special... as soon as he leaves Pelicans :man9:

Those are unbelievable numbers. His numbers are out of this world, and he does it easily, like Love does.

I wouldn't trade him for anyone but Bron. His potential is through the roof.

If I'm NO, I'm trying my hardest to get a superstar there to pair with him.

A wing player, SG/SF. I'd take a similar setup to the Lakers with Kobe/Pau tandem.

PG - Solid flood general that doesn't need the ball to make an impact
SG - Star player
SF - Defensive minded/3 point floor spacer
PF - AD
C - Defensive minded big in the mold of a Hibbert/M.Gasol/Varejao. Nice defense with enough offensive game teams can't cheat.
