With Kevin Garnett 36 paul pierce 36/37 jason terry 33-36 are they set for big decline with only rajon rondo there?

IMO, they've been irrelevant since the 2010-2011 season. It took them 7 games last season to beat a #8 seed 76ers squad. And they only faced the 76ers because the 76ers beat a Chicago team without Derek Rose. Boston wouldn't have even made the ECF if Rose was healthy.

Their back court is quite deep (Lee, Barbosa, Bradley). They'd only need to worry about KG's minutes. On the other hand, Pierce looks done. No way they win that match up against Miami.

I actually think the look better this year than last year. They've got some decent youth and are getting Green back as well. Will they win a title..... I doubt it barring a LeBron injury but they may be the second best team in the East before it's all said and done.

I also think they are better then last year. They lost Allen but picked up Terry and some key players and 2 rookies that are actually decent. This celtics team will be like last years spurs. Conference finals And possible finals in my opinion

While true we need to remember about Rose's injury. Healthy Chicago team would beat Boston in 5.

They're the 2nd best team in the East and the only credible team which can give the Heat troubles in the entire Leastern conference ... Rivers know how to pace his team/players and will give away games in order to get as healthy as possible for the playoffs ...

Boston has been irrelevant for the last 2 years already.

They might be in for a total rebuild very soon. Rondo isnt the guard that will tolerate being on a bad team. If the celtics are turrible after PP and KG are gone, then I expect the celtics to trade him for another top player or draft picks(more likely) and start to retool their roster

i know allen wasn't himself much of last year, but still, they didn't replace him. i'd rather have the allen from the previous year than bradley, terry, lee, and barbosa combined.

i've never been nuts about jeff green, either, as he's a classic tweener.

that said, the east is still pretty weak, and it's hard to pick anyone but miami over them. of course, the smart money would be on a sweep if they met in the playoffs.

They were two quarters away from the NBA finals last year, and they just got better. They have a great balance of young talent, and savvy vets.

They are definitely a contender.

I believe in both their finals years in 08 and 10 they were taken to a few Game 7's, and I think both in first round too.

But I would say they overachieved last year. But they should be a top 4 team this year in the east.

We went to game 7 years back against a Rockets team with no Yao or Tmac. I guess we don't deserve our title.

Nope. As others mentioned Boston was on the verge of making the Finals last season and they improved significantly in the offseason. They will be a legit championship threat once again this season as long as they remain relatively healthy. They're my pick to represent the East. Another Lakers/Celtics Finals would be freaking awesome. Hope it happens. Whether they do or not Boston is definitely NOT irrelevant.

I'm telling you that there is no way that is gonna happen. They made the East Finals last season and got even better in the offseason. Much better actually so how the hell are they gonna lose in the first round? Barring an injury to Rondo, Garnett, or Pierce no way that happens.

Umm it took them 7 to beat ATL, 7 to beat Philly. Both teams are gonna be hovering around the .500 mark this year, boy thats some accomplishment to reach the "East Finals"

I want a rubber match against them. And I want to win it this time, in Boston. So, I want them to be good enough to make it to the finals so we can play them. And then bury them for good to tie for all time titles.

If there was better talent in the east yeah they would be a middle of the run playoff team. However since the east sucks..alot they are the second best right behind miami which is kind of sad. However eventually they will fade away if they don't get some younger pieces soon.
