It was announced moments ago that Scott Layden and the Knicks have signed Dikembe Mutumbo, who was waived by the Nets a few days ago:

Wow now if the knicks can get van exel they will be a powerhouse in the east!

Check out the Knicks payroll..$80 million dollars. And they have a 30 games winning team..

I believe the Knicks now have 16 players under guaranteed contracts. Look for a trade soon or a player to be released.

Van Exel is not being traded to the Knicks. That was a rumor a month ago..I re call Van Exel playing for the Warriors last night.

Mutombo is too old; he probably would only make the Knicks more defensive and give them size. But by next year his production would slim fast and guys like Maciej Lampe and Mike Sweetney would be vying for his minutes. I don't expect Mutombo to make a huge impact even if he makes the SL. Kurt Thomas and Charlie Ward are gone by then, and if the Warriors don't trade Exel, then the Knicks are just sorry they signed mountain in the first place. Layden should have planned his decision-making better.
