Magic In No Hurry To Move J.J. Redick

More from the Trade Winds: it would surprise no one if JJ Redick were moved before the February trade deadline, but there's no urgency on the part of the Magic for several reasons, according to a source. One: after a rough 5-10 start, Orlando has gone 6-3, a burst not coincidentally launched by a soul-satisfying win over former teammate Dwight Howard and the Lakers. If Redick is moved, it will be for a younger talent and/or a draft pick and the Magic wouldn't mind staying competitive for as long as they can this season. Two: as of right now, the potential suitors aren't anywhere near making their best offer. The likeliest trade partners: Chicago, Memphis, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Utah. The Bulls were interested in Redick as a FA and Memphis supposedly expressed recent interest. I haven't heard directly that Minnesota, Milwaukee and Utah have talked to Orlando but Redick fits their systems and/or fills a need.

He'd be nice, but I'd rather have an athletic SF... well I'd rather have an athletic SF that likes playing basketball at least, Ebanks is athletic but he doesn't focus more than once a week.

The tab for getting the Magic FO drunk enough to do it.

I would assume they would go for a salary dump and get some young (admittedly) scrubs.

if they can get a decent pick, i think they should consider it. they're committed to afflalo long term at the 2, so redick's time there is limited--he'll want to go somewhere he can play a bigger role, perhaps as a starter on a team with a star sf opposite him?

J.J. Redick Drawing Trade Interest From Several Teams

Image

Rob Hennigan has informed J.J. Redick that several teams have an active interest in trading for him.

"First of all, you have to hope that there’s another team that wants you because there are never any guarantees there," Redick said. "The way I approach things and the way I have been approaching things recently is to just focus on the day. I do feel overwhelmed at times if I try to picture myself a month from now (at the trade deadline) or six months from now in free agency. It’s just not worth worrying right now.

"At the (trade) deadline, maybe there’s an offer that (GM) Rob (Hennigan) has to consider. But I don’t get any indication from him that they are actively looking to move me," Redick continued. "So if I’m here past the deadline, that’s the first hurdle."

Redick, 28, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Celtics Elevating Interest In J.J. Redick

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine

Hearing Celts, even before season-worst 7-for-32 shooting from 15+ feet in NYK loss, have ramped up their interest in Magic's J.J. Redick

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine

Size obviously Celts' priority if they do deal before Feb. 21 trade deadline but word is they hope to work way into Redick mix if they can

Celts if you go after Redick, if you could so kindly drop Terry or Lee or Barbosa off on our doorstep that would be great.

J.J. Redick Keeping In Touch With GM, Agent On Trade Talks

J.J. Redick's presence in trade rumors will undoubtedly increase as the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 21 approaches.

Redick spoke with RealGM on Monday, discussing the trade deadline and his impending unrestricted free agency

“It’s become a home for me," Redick told RealGM of Orlando. "I met my wife there and I’d love to play there after this year. If they wanted to re-sign me, I’d definitely consider it, obviously if I’m here past the deadline.

"I like Orlando and I like the people. The community has been wonderful for me. I’m very grateful to play for one team for seven years. It’s very unique and I’m fortunate for that.”

Magic general manager Rob Hennigan controls Redick’s fate for the rest of the season. As a result, Redick has kept in contact with Hennigan and his agent while rumors continue to surface.

“My agent (Arn Tellem) has kept me in the loop and Rob has kept me in the loop,” said Redick. “Nothing is imminent, nothing is in the foreseeable future. I expect that there will be more discussion, more serious discussion I should say, around the deadline. If I’m here, I’m here. If I’m not here, I’m not here. There’s nothing I can do to control that situation.”

Bucks Interested In Trading For J.J. Redick

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine

Weekend Dime addendum: Milwaukee now in mix for Magic's JJ Redick. Bucks, I'm told, assessing their ability to retain sharpshooter long term

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine

To meet asking price for Redick -- expiring(s) and a future first-round pick -- Bucks naturally wanna know they can retain free agent-to-be

Redick did tell @RealGM this week that ORL has "become a home" & that he'd like to stay if Magic end up passing on all these calls coming in

J.J. Redick To Seek $10M Annual Deal In Free Agency

J.J. Redick To Seek $10M Annual Deal In Free Agency

Image

J.J. Redick will be looking for a four-year, $40 millon contract on the free agent market, according to sources.

Redick is unlikely to get a deal that hits $10 million annually, but teams with interest in dealing for him contend a $7 million per season amount is likely.

The Pacers, Bucks, Bulls and Wolves have been interested in Redick.

The Magic are willing to re-sign Redick at a deal at approximately $5 million per season.

How in the world does he expect anything more than 5 million dollars in today's CBA? Seriously? Is he a lock down defender that I don't know about? Is he super athletic? Can he also play PG?

Report: Pacers Unwilling To Give Up First Round Pick For J.J. Redick

Image

The Indiana Pacers are unwilling to give up a first round pick in exchange for J.J. Redick.

Redick remains available, with the Pacers, Bulls and Spurs among the candidates for his services.

The Pacers are reportedly amenable to a minor trade involving Gerald Green, D.J. Augustin or Tyler Hansbrough.

Magic Have First Round Pick Offers For J.J. Redick

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA

Orlando has secured offers of first-round picks for J.J. Redick, sources tell Y! Sports. So far, those belong to teams drafting in the 20's.

Spurs interested on J.J. Redick, but Magic can do better than San Antonio's late first-round pick in 2013.

I discounted San Antonio-Redick talks a bit earlier, but sources insisting there are legitimate scenarios in play that make Spurs a factor.

J.J. Redick and his wife own an off-season home in Austin, and with chance to win, prospect of trade to Spurs is beyond appealing to him.

Milwaukee has fallen back in pursuit of Redick, league sources tell Y! Sports. Bucks aren't out of it, but "less likely," one source says.
