they will let Pete Myers finish out the year, and go after Doc next season.

I would say they would get Doc now, but it looks like he wants a break and is done coaching for the year, or he wouldn't have became an ABC announcer.

Actually they might name a full time replacement for Cartwright next week...

Pete Myers will be the interim head coach and general Manager John Paxson hopes to name a full-time replacement within the next week.

ridiculous...

Postby crucifido on Mon Nov 24, 2003 2:23 pm

It's senseless, just like the Rivers firing.

Both coaches weren't responsible for the team's ways right now. Cartwright and Rivers both did all they could do with what they were given. The microscope is too focused on them because it's always easier to just blame the coach rather than address the real problem - bad team management.

Both coaches can't make the playoffs (much less win a ring) unless they are given the tools to do so. Now, when new or interim coaches come in it'll be only longer until these teams make a turn around. Players need a consistent system under which to win and changing coaches every 2 or 3 years is not going to give players the environment they want to play in or the environment they CAN play in. All you have to do is ask the Clippers and Cavs.

Constant change just for the sake of change is absolutely dumb and unfortunately for the fans of these teams, the wait for a playoff appearance just got a lot longer.

I feel the exact same way, this won't help any of their problems.

Any or all of those guys won't get these teams out of the predicament they're in.

They;ve dug their hole and now they'll have to try and dig out of it before the decade ends.

I love Michael Jordan but he would be a [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] coach in my opinion. His work ethic is like 500% times better than everyone in the league. The only PLAYER Jordan would be able to coach is Kobe..because their work ethic is so similar. They both have that "I dont give a fk about anyone else ill do whatever it takes to win" mentality. It would be cool, but Jordan expects to much out of players nowadays. Id hire as a consultant at best.

Isiah Thomas would be goood even though hes the reason i became a Bulls Fan. (First game i saw was between Bulls and Pistons....bulls lost...and i liked the guy who wore number 23 on the bulls because my birthday is on dec 23rd...lol this was back in like 87...first game i ever saw). Yeah basically i hate thomas...hiring him would be like Jordan playing side by side with Craig Ehlo. But hey, whatever it takes to win.

SI: Skiles, the former Suns coach, has emerged as a leading candidate to replace the fired Bill Cartwright in Chicago, according to league sources.

Bulls GM John Paxson won't comment on his coaching search, except to say that he hopes to name a replacement as soon as Friday. Others mentioned as possible candidates include Doug Collins, former Magic coach Doc Rivers, former Pacers coach Isiah Thomas and current Lakers assistant Jim Cleamons.

Jim Cleamons better not leave LA to go back to Chicago. I don't think he would, but why would they even post that

No coach can get this team to the playoffs right now.

This team needs a few more wheels before it can roll.

They're young guys they've got nothing but time but now they have to start over so add a couple more years onto the wait for theri return to the playoffs.

Bulls Coaching Update

Paxson has decided on a new coach for them...Scott Skiles. It will be announced in a press conference on Friday.

Chicago Sun-Times: Bulls operations chief John Paxson couldn't fire his entire roster Monday, so he relieved coach Bill Cartwright of his duties and warned the players things were about to get tougher.

It's believed that toughness will take the shape of Scott Skiles, expected to be named the Bulls' next coach at a news conference Friday. A deal had not been reached as of Monday night, according to a team insider, but both sides were working toward an agreement.

Pete Myers will serve as the interim coach tonight against the Dallas Mavericks and Wednesday in San Antonio.

is he a good coach...yes...for the bulls....hmmm...maybe.

Skiles is a very aggressive coach, one that will get in your face and scream at you if he fells you deserve it. This won't go over too well with young guys that make mistakes that young inexperienced players make, and also I don't think Pip will like him because of his coaching style. Throughout Pip's whole career he has played for coaches with almost the exact opposite approach (Cartwright, Cheeks, Phil) and none of the coaches he has played for have been is aggressive as Skiles, the closest was I guess Rudy T.

Skiles coached the Suns from 99-01, his record was 116-79, and it the playoffs his record is 5-8. The team's leader or superstar usually isn't too fond of him. His coaching method with either motivate you or make you want to be traded. In Phoenix, he didn't get along with Kidd, Marion, or Rodgers. So based on that you be the judge. I think they will do better, but some players won't like him and it will result in him not being there next year. Next year they will get Doc.

Maybe these little punk kids need someone like him. For example, Paxon had to warn Curry during a game because he was "sagging." frickin idiot man. what kind of work ethic is that. They need some type of drill sargeant(sp). If they cant handle it...then leave. Its like my fraternity...dont join if you dont expect to put in your work.

No one starts at the top....(especially not the Bulls)

skiles is NOT a good fit

tha bulls need a coach that can guide them and get their trust...and THAT coach is isiah thomas...

bulls are doomed with skiles, he did OK with tha suns, but tha suns had good players and sort of a leader in kidd, but on tha bulls they dont really have that and pippen hasnt shown that either...

WHOA! This one suprised me. I always thought Bill was a great coach. He knew the triangle and I think did a good job with the Bulls. Man, this sucks. I totally disagree with this decision.
