@daldridgetnt 6h

ICYMI: Rockets will trade Asik next Wednesday or Thursday. And do not discount Cleveland/Varejao. Would be perfect fit next to Howard.

Normally, I don't get too worked up about rumors unless it comes from Woj or Stein, but Aldridge is fairly reliable.

If Asik is traded to Cleveland for Varejao, then it's going to cause an interesting situation for Bynum and the Cavs.

Varejao works better with Bynum than Asik would. Not sure why Cleveland would do this unless they want to move Bynum.

They want to get Asik so that they can pair him with Pau. Old school Rockets plan.

Bynum back to LA. :jam2: :jam2:

Knees? That's all I can come up with. Maybe the trade will be a 3-way and Cleveland is the "facilitator" moving Asik to another team.

Asik requested a trade as soon as D12 was signed. He's not interested in being a backup for D12. I'm not sure why he'd want to be a backup for Bynum. Bynum would have to be moved or the deal involves moving Asik to a 3rd team in order for Cleveland to possibly pick up a SF.

Take Pau and one of our SFs. We'll even eat some salary for the season! :man1:

Actually, I'm hoping Bynum is fine, but he remains such a question mark in terms of health. Still, his contract is structured in a pretty favorable way. Apparently $6m of his salary is guaranteed this year. Next year, no guarantee if waived before July.

It could be that Cleveland sees no future with Andrew and medically his knees are degenerating. If that is the case it's a matter of when not if it becomes bad enough that he will need to retire. I hope it isn't the case, but it's definitely a possibility.

If he's only going to be with Cleveland through July (if waived due to injury) Asik would be a great insurance policy.

I guess CLE might be concerned about Bynum's knees. Again, I've always loved Bynum but wanted to trade him because of those health issues. That proved to be correct the first time. Of course, if there was nothing wrong with Bynum I'd take him back... he's awesome when he can play. But those knee injuries always worry me. Every time that kid jumps for a rebound and lands, I'm like "please be OK, please be OK." It's kinda stressful. :man10:

He gets so few opportunities in that offense. No chance to get in a rhythm. Most of his points come off rebounde or broken plays.

If they played inside out with him the would not be so inconsistent on offense.

Teams are doing defensively against him what OKC did in 2012. Front him.

Mike Brown, for whatever the reason may be, can't seem to figure out how to coach a team to counter a fronting defense against a postup player. He couldn't do it with the Lakers. And he can't seem to do it now either. It's simply ridiculous. The 3-peat team countered fronting defenses against Shaq all the time without batting an eyelash.

Not really hard to counter the front of the post ( well in theory at least)

1)the PF has to flash to the high post and if weakside help is coming , you pass the rock to the (open) player in the corner .

Got to be a solid passer though ... not exactly Earl/Thompson forte...

2) you swing the ball and the post player moves to the other block and seals the front player .... Drew isn't quick/mobile enough here

@cavsbeat A great video on how 2 attack a defense that fronts Bynum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfZmpmmEYso … … @bballSource

@leonsantillan @bballSource Brown continually said the team is having trouble feeding him when the defense fronts him. Good stuff man.

@cavsbeat @leonsantillan Thanks. Not coincidence the same issue Bynum had in LA also deals w/ the same coach

This video was made when we faced OKC in the playoffs

That has less to do with being mobile and more to do with a proper seal as Coach Nick shows in the video.

Perhaps if Mike Brown actually ran practices and drills, Bynum and the team could execute it better. Coach Nick seems to believe this is a coaching issue, and I have to agree with him.

Nice game from Bynum again. His breakdown:

October: 3 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast (20% FG)
November: 7.8 pts, 4.3 reb, 1.0 ast (41.1% FG)
December: 11.2 pts, 7.0 reb, 1.3 ast (47.9% FG) - these are absolutely serviceable numbers from a starting big.

Bynum and the guards are still trying to figure out how to play with each other. The guards are trying to figure out how to give him the ball while Bynum is too often trying to run up and down.

He needs to play like Kareem did during the showtime era. Let the guards run up the court. Stay at the half-court line in case there is a turnover. If the guards can't get anything in transition, then head down to the block and post up.

I watched their game vs. CHI yesterday. So glad Brown isn't our coach anymore, the cavs offense is complete garbage. They never feed bynum in the post, he gets more than half his points off of put backs or the finishing dunk from penetration. They're wasting his talent.
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.
Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.
You know who I am talking about.

@WojYahooNBA 1m

About Bynum suspension, league source tells Yahoo: "He doesn't want to play basketball anymore. He never liked it that much in first place."

He told the press earlier in the season that he was trying to find the joy for basketball again. I guess he decided that he had enough.

It's very possible Bynum's played his final game for Cavs, sources tell Yahoo. In trade, a team can waive Bynum and save $6m of $12m salary.

And there's the end of it.

So much talent, but between the ears it wasn't there. Not to say he's stupid, but he just genuinely didn't have a passion for the game. Lucky for him he made a ton of money. He seems like a bright kid, hopefully he's got some of that saved up and not wasted in cars.

To say Bynum never liked hoop is ridiculous. He doesn’t like constantly being hurt, constantly having to rehab and having diminished game
