Bynum Discussion

@BillSimmons 34m

1 - Expect Bynum to miraculously regain his love for basketball once he gets away from this messy Cavs situation. He has an end game here.

@BillSimmons 32m

2 - Cavs' big mistake was including a Jan. 7 opt-out deadline for them to guarantee rest of Bynum's deal this year. Gave him an out.

@BillSimmons 29m

3 - From what I hear, Bynum wants to end up with Heat or Clips. But he'd have to be released + Cavs want to trade him (see @WindhorstESPN).

‏@BillSimmons 27m

4 - Also hearing he'd consider Boston - Celts have expirings/assets to get him (if they wanted him). His ideal teams are Miami/Clips though.

@BillSimmons 25m

5 - No team will trade for Bynum and spend 6 mill if he doesn't want to play there. He's playing this perfectly. Depressing but true.

@BillSimmons 24m

6 - Last note... This is super-important because a semi-healthy Bynum could swing the title race if he lands with Heat or Clips. Stay tuned.

I personally think Simmons is full of crap. If Bynum wanted to join the Heat or Clips, he would have done it during the offseason.

If Bynum would join to another team i think that would be Spurs. He wants to play at half court offense and since he is a huge Duncan fan i think he will join Spurs if he wants to play basketball at all.

Simmons is a vile little man. He could be right however...... Bynum was not being used in Cle at all. He knows he has little time left with his knee condition and playing for something is better than sitting out the 4th quarter again and again.

Who knows? There may be a lot going on here that isn't yet public.

I think he doesn't want to be in Cleveland anymore.

And there is no chance Dan Gilbert lets Bynum walk to Miami. He'd rather eat the rest of the contract, than have to see Lebron hoist another trophy.

Miami could use Bynum against Hibbert in the playoffs ... more likely to be available than Oden ...

Drew chilling in Miami , playing here and there ... perfect for him

Sources: Cavaliers to part ways with Andrew Bynum
4 hours ago

Andrew Bynum has averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in 24 games this season. (USA Today)
The Cleveland Cavaliers are determined to unload Andrew Bynum in a trade after their partnership with the former All-Star center has rapidly deteriorated, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Cavaliers have no intention of Bynum ever playing another game for them, a source with direct knowledge of the franchise's plans told Yahoo Sports after the team announced Saturday it has suspended Bynum indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.
The Cavs believe they will benefit from no longer having to force him into the lineup when it clearly wasn't working.
"He doesn't want to play basketball anymore," a league source told Yahoo Sports.

The Cavaliers believe Bynum has been a "disruptive" presence within the team and have lost hope the partnership can be salvaged, sources said. Bynum often expressed a lack of desire to play and practice and was convinced by the Cavaliers not to quit previously, sources said.
Other teams that met with Bynum during his free agency last offseason were concerned about his desire to play and commitment to continue the rehab needed for him to play in the NBA after repeated knee problems, sources said.

Bynum, 26, signed a two-year deal worth $24.8 million with the Cavs prior to the season. Only $6 million of the $12.2 million Bynum is due this season is guaranteed if he is waived before Jan. 7. He could be attractive to teams looking to shed some salary because they could acquire him for a player with a similar contract and save $6 million by waiving Bynum.

Bynum also could try to negotiate a buyout with the Cavaliers and seek to sign a contract for the veteran's minimum with a contending team if he clears waivers.
Bynum did not travel with the team to Boston for Saturday's game against the Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers said he has been excused from all team activities indefinitely.

Bynum has averaged 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 19.5 minutes in 24 games with the Cavaliers. He had four points and one rebound in 17 minutes in a 127-125 double overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
Bynum won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers but has missed repeated time throughout his career because of knee injuries. He did not play a single game for the Philadelphia 76ers last season after they acquired him from the Lakers.

If he walks to the Heat, I'm going to be livid. He's got enough gas in those knees for a playoff run.

How's Oden doing, BTW?? He got in one game earlier in the year didn't he, or was that a practice game? Zippo since.

He might go to the heat. They'd definitely pick him up for vets min.

I think he knows his knees are about to crumble again, so he's looking to pick up as much guaranteed cash as he can. 6 mill + vets min >>> 6 mill.

What a strange, strange turn of events, I didn't see that coming at all. If he does indeed get released, goes to the Heat, and stays healthy, IMO they have the title wrapped up for sure. So, I hope he goes somewhere else, anywhere else.

The whole Cavs circus has been weird all season.

First, Mike Brown and Kyrie Irving having an issue with each other during a game where Mike Brown yells at Kyrie. Then the news of Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters fighting during a players only meeting. Now this with Bynum.

“It’s a terrible situation internally with our team but it’s something we’ve got to get over,” Kyrie Irving said. “It’s coach’s decision, it came from the management, that’s kind of where it stays, with management. … We need him out there. He is a dominant force for our team and it’s hard. You lose a teammate, but with this situation it gives everybody else a chance to step up. That’s kind of how we look at the situation. He’s going to be missed but you’ve got to still play games so that’s what it’s about.”

Bynum’s career has had its share of controversies, including reports that he does not like basketball. In spite of this, Jarrett Jack didn’t see signs of distaste for the game. “I’ve never gotten that vibe from him,” Jack said. “Just watching him over the course of the season, tremendous work ethic, trying to work himself back into game shape, always in the weight room working on his game by himself. That was kind of the mark for me, was him just showing he wanted to be here, wanted to be back, and get back to as close to the playing shape he used to be in that everybody was used to when he was playing with the Lakers.”

Bynum might be a bit jaded about having to gamble his knees for a disastrous Cavaliers team, but I don't buy the story about him being a cancer who has lost interest in the game. Whatever's going on, I'm sure there are a lot of politics and business issues involved regarding his flexible contract that we don't know about.

But if he goes to Miami ... :mad1:

Phil's Thoughts On Drew's Suspenion

Phil Jackson ‏@PhilJackson11 10m

I’m reluctant to judge ABynum’s bball intent. He is a man of many interests and has a life outside of bb, but he does like to compete.

Does he love basketball like Kobe does? No. Who does?

Does he not care? C'mon, the guy is competitive and improved too much to suggest otherwise.

cavs are an absolute mess at this point

brown and irving have had problems
waiters calling out irving and thompson at a players meeting
their #1 pick bennett has looked nothing short of atrocious so far

all this while having clown as the head coach. apparently the cavs were planning on increasing zeller and varejao's playing time which led to whatever drew did to get suspended

^^ So they were going to decrease his playing time again..... it was already down to 2 stretches a game and he was typically not on the floor to close games. That's a tough pill to swallow when it Sideshow Bob in there.

This is more about Irving and keeping him happy IMHO. Bynum and a post presence takes a lot away from a guy that only knows how to attack. Having Bynum in the game to close makes Cle better but might not play so well with Irving. If they lose him the way they lost LeBron there will be a revolt in Cle.

My guess is that this is a mixture of things... Brown, Irving's lack of complete game, team composition, Bynum's knees and his strange contract situation. They set his contract up to pull the parachute and it seems that they are going to do just that.

He played on one leg during the 2010 Finals , wanted to become an All star and did so ... maybe , just maybe , he's tired of all these injuries and going through the rehab processes ... who wouldn't be ?

Tired of all these social networks so called specialists who have an opinion about everything, know little and think they are always right ...
