Chris Paul informed the Los Angeles Clippers that he was planning on signing with the Houston Rockets to join James Harden and Dwight Howard when the deal for Doc Rivers fell apart, according to a report from ESPN's Bill Simmons.

The Clippers ended negotiations with the Boston Celtics over the compensation they would send in exchange for Rivers.

The Clippers eventually reinitiated talks and send a future first round pick to the Celtics.

Paul subsequently agreed to a $107 million new contract with the Clippers.

I don't see any way that the Clippers would have done a S&T with Houston.

Not surprising; I kind of figured this already. Doc & the Celtics got to a point where he believed the deal wasn't going to get done. I truly believe Chris gave Management & Sterling an ultimatum and they got acquiesced to his request.

If Paul went to Houston, then Dwight wouldn't have been able to.

Not unless they found a way to dump Asik and Lin and no one would be doing them that favor.

Even if Howard demanded a trade there, we'd tell him to take a flying leap so there's no way this makes any sense at all.

we probably end up with Barnes and Bogut if this happened as it would become hard for Dwight to go to Houston, stupid Paul

One of them would have signed for less. Otherwise, it's impossible.

This article is worthless. No way CP3 would of end up in Houston. Leaving Los Angeles for Houston? Only Howard would leave a city like Los Angeles.

uh, I think you're forgetting that Houston is the home of superstar player chandler parsons. paul would have taken the minimum for the opportunity to have fun and bask in the glory of such luminaries.

i'm not a huge morey fan, but i think he would have been able to trade lin/asik.

asik shouldn't have been an issue to trade, and lin you'd just need package with a couple draft picks.

that would have been a scary team

Forget about the Rockets, if CP3 main priority is really want to win a NBA championship ring he should go to the Pacers if that was possible, the Pacers are really a real PG away from winning it all next season.
