Something to keep an eye on....

To be clear: Rivers can't technically be part of trade, but Celtics would release him from contractual obligations based on deal package.

The Boston Celtics are deep in discussions with the Los Angeles Clippers on a blockbuster deal to send coach Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The final hurdle of a deal centers on the Clippers' willingness to include guard Eric Bledsoe into a trade package with Boston, sources said.

Boston and Los Angeles are discussing a package that will send DeAndre Jordan and two first-round picks to the Celtics for Garnett and the right to hire Rivers as coach, sources said.

Garnett will waive his no-trade clause to go to the Clippers, where he'll be reunited with Rivers. Celtics assistant Ty Lue also will likely join them in Los Angeles, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Clippers owner Donald Sterling is prepared to pay Rivers in the neighborhood of the $7 million annual salary he currently holds with the Celtics, front office sources said. Rivers has three years and $21 million left on his Boston deal.

If a deal is agreed upon, Rivers will likely speak to Chris Paul immediately on his willingness to re-signing with Los Angeles, sources said.

Rivers can't be part of a player transaction, but the inclusion of the draft picks – and perhaps Bledsoe – would allow Boston to free him of his contractual obligations.

The Celtics and Rivers want a finality to these talks, and there's pressure to complete a deal in the next two days or walk away completely, sources said.

I'd figure Bledsoe would have to be in the deal, seeing as DJ is just a dead weight contract with "potential" or better known as an athletic big that can't do anything else.

You can't be serious....how in the heck would bledsoe NOT be included in this deal? The Celtics better hold for Bledsoe...that would be a huge mistake if they do not at least obtain him....

Hopefully the Clippers don't get PP too....

KG
BG
Pierce
Crawford
Cp3

They're still pretty weak in the frontcourt but KG is definitely a lot better than DJ/Odom right now and Pierce is a huge upgrade over Butler/Barnes.

KG AND Doc Rivers to the Clippers? That would be the first player and coach trade I can remember ha ha. Would be great for the Clippers though, KG still has game and old hoarse throat is a great coach.

It will always be a lateral move as long as Paul is there. I'd worry if Rondo was coming along but KG doesn't change why Chris Paul teams lose in the Playoffs

Well no, he doesn't, but I think KG helps with Blake's mediocrity in the playoffs, and Doc at least gets them out of the first round.

Biggest reason Clippers are reluctant to part with Bledsoe in deal to Celtics? Besides he's a trade asset, Rivers wants to coach him w/ CP3.

Wait.. They don't want to get rid of brick head Jordan?

No, it's just worded weird. Jordan is for sure in the deal, Bledsoe is the guy that the Celts want, but the Clips don't want to give up.

Bledsoe is being treated like an allstar here..... He's this years version of 2010 Arron Brooks. Get him in a different situation and he'll be a much different player.

OTOH.... If the C's get him they may want to trade Rondo... :man1:

Then Go Ce!*&# because I'd be ecstatic to find a way to get Rondo long term.

I'd do a three way trade that got us Rondo+ whoever, Bledso+Jordan to the C's and Dwight+Garnet and Doc to the Clips.

Pair Rondo with whoever we can get in 2014 and we'd be gold

C's won't do that if they're giving up Rondo and Garnett and Doc, and only getting Bledso and Jordan

haha...no way that bledsoe and jordan are deal breakers...
both are solid players and nothing more...
one is very good bench player and other is much worse howard version with long contract...
plus what would be clip plan...which players would they include when they are holding so hard on those two players...??'

I thought I was in very limited company liking Rondo.... :man10:

If Doc and KG come to L.A., Pierce is soon to follow. Either in a trade or the Celtics will buy him out and he'll sign with the Clippers.

CP3 doesn't want to play with Dumb and Dumber. He wants vets who know how to wipe their own butt.

Danny Ainge and the Celtics want to rebuild around Rondo with younger pieces.

The Celtics would be dumb to trade for DJ. He can really only play 3 quarters and even during those 3 he's not that good of a player. Just another athletic big with a low basketball IQ.
