This doesn't surprise me however, seeing as Horry is from Texas. He could end up in Dallas, Houston, or S.A. (Very doubtful though).

Or... He could stay In L.A. :man1:

I say we re-sign Horry to keep him away from other playoff teams, why improve our competition to punish ROb for one bad playoff performance???

Don't we have more than one available...and even if we don't, I severely doubt karl would accept the Vet Min. at his stature...he's old but he's not THAT old...

I'd be very surprised if we(or any other team for that matter) signed Malone for the vet's min.

I'd be surprised to see Karl get even the standard MLE. He will probably want an MLE contract with huge incentives...we simply can't afford guys like GP and Malone and we need to accept that and go for the realistic options...

Horry becoming a Mav... Man, that seems weird... But if we let him go and decide to not re-sign him, or if he doesn't accept, then much luv to him, in whatever he does... He's done so much for the Lakers, and he'll be a great assest to any team that picks him up.

I think we should definitely re-sign Horry but work out his contract for less(which he already said he doesn't mind). I've got this gut feeling that this next year will be one of Horry's best because he took last season very hard and his pride won't allow him to play that bad again. I cringe at the thought of Horry on another team.....can you imagine being on the receiving end of one of his 3-point game winners? :yikes:

Yes but Horry doesn't care about the money any more... You know what I mean. If he goes to either:

1. San Antonio
2. Dallas
3. Houston

It would only be because he wanted to return to his home... And I respect that.

I say we exercise the 5.3 million dollar option and reward him for three championships of clutch play and tell him not matter what, he is and always will be in our hearts as a great player, let him calm down and not worry about his contract, which weakend his patented ease in tough moments. he wound up TRYING to prove something so the moments mattered more and he lost that "I don't really care because I have been through much worse and it is only a game" edge that he would regain with the 5.3 million. We will have the MLE, LLE and VME anyway, regardless of whether we sign Horry to 800k, or 5.3 mil, so why not make him really happy and give him what no other team can...it would really make him comfortable, and we all know what a comfortable Horry can do...

Hear, hear SB. Horry deserves our respect and the chance to retire a Laker. We can't just place blame on players because that had bad series. We had a lot to prove this year and a lot of pressure on us and in the end it didn't happen. We just need to move on an make the necessary adjustments.

Exactly my point, we should reward Rob and sign him to the 5.3 mil. Unless we want to swing that Terry Ratliff trade, but I wonder if they would take Samaki Walker in Horry's stead. That might work better...Samaki Walker, Mark Madsen and Kareem Rush for Terry and Ratliff...that sounds ideal...

It seems like Dallas is considering on buying that title next year. Which we all know will never work. They want Malone, now they want Horry. Who's next, Payton or Arenas. I guess with Cuban's money, anything is possible.

I love the fact that there is a limit on the amount of players he can sign, so whichever players he dumps (like Adrian Griffin) we can pick up for the Minimum and be a better team, and all we need are guys like the guys they will be cutting to stay on top because we have two of what no other team has, superstar players with championships under their belt...

Well as it has already been stated somewherein these posts the Hawks are looking for short term contracts, so maybe they will take Walker instead. I still thik that try to get Shareef from them instead of Ratliff would be a much better idea.

OK, Shareef is a ball hog, a big small forward with bad defensive ability and weak rebounding fundamentals.

Theo Ratliff is an offensively challenged power forward that is always thinking pass, has amazing rebounding ability and just won the league shot blocking title...hmmm.....your logic is interesting...
