1 year later this guy is already a stud. Wonder who will turn out that way this draft.

Well a big part of the reason he's already a stud is because of the confidence he developed in his 4 years at college. Not a lot of the one-and-done's will have that kind of poise as a 2nd year player, will be taking the team's last shot. Makes you wonder about the real value of going one-and-done.

Very good point. He played at a smaller college and had to lead for 4 years instead of playing for a team for a 1 year audition for the big paycheck promised by the agent following his family around for 3 years......

You can tell he's playing for every play.... every minute and every opportunity. If Bynum had knees and that attitude he's have been unstoppable.

Barring injury (and Portland isn't the best place for that) he could be a future MVP type player.... and the future might be in a year or two.

I hope we nail our pick so we can have a young stud like Lillard guaranteed for two contract cycles below market value for him.

The bolded is why the Lakers should NOT, NOT, NOT trade their pick for any coach. Cannot duplicate this cap friendly effect any other way. That is the effect of the current CBA, now made bright and clear to all the value of first round picks. And why no one offered one to the Lakers for Gasol...

^^^Doc and I have been beating that drum for 2 years now in our support of trading our only asset in Pau for picks and youth already under contract.

For the life of me I cannot understand why we are the only team in the league that parts with picks so easily in this new reality of the NBA. It is already hamstringing us as we have no assets and no youth that is developing.

Am I mistaken or did I read this morning that some kid on the 76'ers won ROY?

Michael Carter-Williams. Not a bad player. The Sixers get to add to him in this draft plus they should have Nerlens Noel returning this fall. Good young team to watch next year.

Question relevant to the thread: Is Carter-Williams in Lillard's class?

No he's not. Lillard is going to be a winner in this League. The kid handles himself well, we don't hear a ton of knucklehead things about him, and he's not just athletic but he's smart enough to know when to use it.

Athleticism is great, but if you hurt yourself using it (hello Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose) then what's the use? Lillard finds a great balance.

Are you kidding me? Not even close. One has a deadly shot and the other's greatest weakness is his outside shot. That's just one of many things different between the two of them
