Brown seems content in only playing two of his SF at a time. So far it's been Ebanks & Artest or Barnes & Artest.

Coach Brown gave Ebanks 4 games to start where Barnes got very little playing time (Barnes pretty much only played in those first 4 games because Bynum was suspended and McRoberts was slightly hurt so we needed a back-up 4). It's only fair to give Barnes the same opportunity (and right now, I feel like Barnes has significantly outplayed Ebanks).

It seems like World Peace has locked up his share of playing time (about 25 minutes a game as the back-up SF). So that doesn't leave much more time for two more quality SF's in the rotation.

could have been showcased as a young tradeable player....??
could also be that Brown is just giving Barnes a chance to audition now....??

seems odd though whatever is going on and esp Morris getting no time AT ALL :disagree:

The most apt comparison I've seen on these boards is Eddie Jones.

Eddie Jones > Rudy Gay

Not willing to break down & compare their games, so I'll just cut to the case and agree because EJ was one of my favorite players growing up.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

Eddie was fun to watch.

I really liked Ebanks I think that kid will be good.. I'd rather see him starting over Matt or Ron.

So uh... what happened to this kid? Started the year with sky-high confidence, was hitting pretty much every shot he took, now he doesn't even play at all. Ron Artest at this point is garbage, he is DONE, why is Ebanks getting zero time at all?

So was I. There has to be some sort of story here. We all see the potential in this kid, he's athletic, a good defender, and his offense is developing...

The Lakers could improve almost immediately by doing two things: bench Fisher and bench Artest. Let Blake and Ebanks get those minutes.

Ebanks could be the Laker's Lin. Why doesn't Brown give him the chance?

To be clear I'm not trying to say the kid is a star or something, he's still raw, he still makes mistakes and has bad games, but why NO time at all? He was playing well for us when he got minutes, but then he was given little minutes, his role was changed, then no minutes at all, all seemingly unwarranted moves, must have messed with the kid's confidence.

^Yeah, for sure. By no means is the kid an elite player, but he's easily better than what we're getting from Artest or Barnes right now. With the way our current SF's are playing, I'd say give the kid like 10-15 mins a game to see what he can do. Can't be much worse than the current production from that position. Give him a bit of confidence. We could see that he was hitting shots at the beginning of the season when he had the confidence, but any time he's seen the court since he's been getting the DNP-CD's, his confidence has taken a hit and it's shown in his decision making and playing ability.

Maybe they are trying to keep him under the radar until after they make any trade moves before the deadline so he isn't requested in a package deal. Otherwise, I can think of no other reason why he doesn't get time.

This should be our rotation:

Blake / Fisher / Morris
Bryant / Goudelock / Kapono
Barnes / Ebanks / World Peace / Walton
Gasol / McRoberts
Bynum / Murphy

It's so frustrating to see players like MWP and Fish getting so much playing time when they're so useless. We have young players on the roster who should at least be given the opportunity to make the rotation. I really don't think Ebanks could play much worse than MWP.

I still like Artest as our SF, he's still a helluva defender, (but horrid on O). He can stop the likes of Pierce, Durant, Gay, Carmelo, its just that his offense is worse this year. So I can understand, if Ebanks has to take a seat back and just learn for awhile more, then so be it. I would love him to play, but the defense Artest gives is just to valuable to just bench him. Despite our record, he has done good jobs on guys he's guarded.

I want us to give Devin some more run and see what he can do. We're not going to win playing 3 of 5 offense. At least with Devin it may be 4 on 5 instead.

I know right? That's what I'm basically getting at, it's not like his defense is terrible or something to the point that Ron has some advantage over him, the kid hustles and his long arms can even create steals like with Ariza. He also is one of the few players on the team that can actually shoot the ball.

I think he's earned the backup 2 minutes in the playoffs and when Kobe comes back. This eliminates Blake at the two guard and gives us a big athletic wing that can guard the opposing 2 guards (Mayo, Young, Green, Ginobili) that would give Blake problems.

Off the bench for 10 minutes a game, he could give a needed spark.

He'll be out of the rotation as soon as Friday ... Brown has already said/implied he will only be used in case of they need an extra body ( read foul trouble/injury) during the playoffs

He really did an amazing job out there late in the game. I thought his play was fantastic against Durant. Van Gundy kept saying Durant was getting open looks, but I think Ebanks did a great job of getting back to Durant and challenging shots.

His length makes him a killer on D and he demonstrated that today. Long arms and good hands in passing lanes.

Great game from him today.

The defense was just amazing and he was hustling and trying to grab as many boards as he could. Give him all the backup 2 minutes in the playoffs.

Him and Hill on the court together gives us the athleticism to hang with an OKC.
