I don't mean to be a downer, but the the fact that our starting 5 has gone from Artest/Fisher/Kobe/Gasol/Bynum+Odom to Ebanks/Kobe/Blake/Gasol/Bynum has made me post this.

I hope your right as far as production but there's no way Murphy can make up in versatility what Odom gave us. Odom is arguably one of the most versatile players in the league, which is why management pursued AK47.

From this year to last we have.... lost Odom, Smith, Brown and Ratliff and added Kapono, Morris, Goudelock, Murphy and McRoberts. I would say we are a little thinner because of the magnitude of the Odom loss. However we have added some depth with McRoberts and Murphy where we only really had Odom last year. The person we didn't replace is Brown and as much as I disliked his game he is better than what we have there now in Kapono.

I would like to see us really look at Mickael Pietrus.... He would be a great pickup IMHO....

I'd like us to pursue AK47 as my reasoning stated above and of course Dwight but only if we get to keep Gasol (perfect fit for LA, perfect compliment to Kobe). Kapono is practically Steve Blake but with more experience. I have no idea who Morris and Goudelock I remember vaguely from last year's NCAA tournament. McRoberts is also a no-namer to me.

I actually think this is a GREAT move. Ebanks can play. He's probably the best defender on the team. He's young, energetic, fast, can jump, and can shoot the ball well. The best part is that it'll add to our bench depth.

for all the almost all time greats we "almost" had (Farmar, Wafer, Critt), seems like Ebanks may actually develop into a special player. I see him as Ariza with better offense.

LO is the past. Take joy in watching the birth and development of Ebanks before he gets packaged for howard by year's end.

He was also dumb and at this point very fat (metaphorically speaking) and complacent on success. He lost his edge (if he ever had one). After last year, this team needs a change of culture and we're getting it. Our core has enough talent to win it all, and they've proven it. We need role players that are hungry and have something to prove. Ebanks is the epitome of this. You could say our coach is as well. That's why I'm glad Ebanks has been rewarded for all his hard work, whereas Artest got lazy and deserves the bench.

lol Odom >>>> Murphy

Our bench actually got stronger with Ebanks in the starting lineup. Obviously losing Odom is huge, but all in all it's decent. Ron and Matt now lead the bench. Like others said, I'd go after Pietrus hard. Also, I think before the end of the season we'll see Glock getting more mins than Kapono.

Love this move. Phil wouldn't even play him, let alone start him.

I am happy for him, and I'm really looking forward to seeing this starting 5. We wanted youth and athleticism, and we got that in Ebanks and McBob. They should be fun to watch.

I don't think Phil would start Ebanks so... that's +1 for Brown, right there. Barnes should be good off the bench, and Peace shoud not have any minutes guaranteed until he gets in shape. Eventually, we'll still need him of course; unlike Luke, who will hopefully keep the bench warm the entire time.

Phil would start Luke though. :man10:

I'd like to think that our bench this year is an improvement over our bench from last year. Yes the best player off our pine from last season was better than any one guy we have this year, however I'd like to think that a handful of B's and C's are better than one A and a bunch of D's and F's if you catch my drift.

Yes he would.

I am not concerned about Ebanks starting at all....he earned it and I think he will do great.

Bigger concern with the front line though. Pau should be fine at Center...at least in the short term....just don't run him too hard for too long as we saw last season. McRoberts....I don't think he is starting caliber.

I would have started Ron at the PF. We'd give up some height, but defensively he'd he able to hold his own inside against most PFs.

Pau should be OK at center, considering it's only for ... what? 5 days?

Three of which are in a row. Hopefully he doesn't burn out, and we can also place Murphy at the 5 to let Pau rest.

Absolutely. And you know how much I liked the Zen Master. But he would never give a chance to our young players, he did not like developing them. Instead, he liked to play Luke. Go figure.
