Wouldn't that be awesome?!! They could be the Los Angeles Clippers of Anaheim. :jam2: :man10:

Anaheim doesn't want the Clippers, this is a Laker town. And it's the "Honda Center" now sadly, "The Pond" was way better, but I guess people finally realized that Arrrowhead tastes exactly like tap water and they lost the building.

Also, the Clippers are worth 2 BILLION dollars? What does that make the Lakers who have actually won a damn thing worth, 10 billion?

:man10: :man10: Great post Weezy. Yeah, I forgot they changed over - maybe that Honda title won't play well with Mr. Kia Motors sponsorship.

And yeah, 2 Billion big ones for a team that hasn't ever gotten past the second round? Crazy.

Steve "Zune" Ballmer..... :man10:

Someone cue up the video of him trying to copy a Steve Jobs product anouncement....

This guy to a company at the top of the world and took them no where.... He's a "gift" billionaire so gifting a couple Billion to Sterling seems about right.

Well this played out just about how I thought it might in the end. He's going to get a significant amount more than the team's book value and may take a shot at the NBA in the process.

In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

Lol sterlings money train just started. They need to send Adam Silver a thank you gift basket for turning his 500-750 mil (I think) franchise into a 2 billion dollar one. send some mad dog 20\20
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Idk about that. Keep in mind, LA is a Laker town as well. The Clippers dont seem to have much issues with attendance lately. As long as the team has talent, they will draw crowds. Especially all the NBA fans in Anaheim that want to catch a game without the hassle of going to LA. Plus there are some closet Clipper fans around there. Then you have your fair share of I hate the Lakers I hate Kobe type of people, who naturally are Clipper fans.

I just find it funny that this guy overpaid for the Clippers. They are eventually going to suck again and then they will truly fall further behind the Lakers once we are done rebuilding. Just because they had a couple nice seasons and play in a big market doesnt make them worth 2 billion. This guy is in for a long ride, he has no idea what the Clippers franchise ultimately is. :man10:

I want me some of that homegrown they have up there in Washington state...
:man12:
Will say the NBA has been outflanked. They have to approve Ballmer or match the offer. Otherwise lawsuit territory.

Clippers not moving to Anaheim yet. 9 years left on Staples lease.

So . . . no, the Donald isn't playing Chess at all. He's playing a different game: marbles, and sadly for him, he's lost his.

Wow. Deemed incapacitated, no say in the sale as per his Living Trust. Shoot, it sounds like he can't do much more and I was just getting fired up about a summer long battle and a complete Paper Clip meltdown. :man5:

So was I. Yikes! Deemed incapacitated is something I wasn't sure was coming. I thought if anything they might use that in his lawsuit against Stiviano for damages and illegally recording him... Now he doesn't have a battle anywhere.

The NBA just dodged a massive bullet here. If this went to vote, I guarantee that a) it wouldn't be unanimous and b) some skeletons would fly out of closets. I STILL think this could start a snowball effect on the rest of the owners if the media wants it to which they won't. The NBA will knock some money off of their prices to TNT and ESPN and FOX to keep things under wraps.

That guy way overpaid for this franchise though. It's worth more than what Forbes had it listed as, but certainly much less than was paid for it. This franchise is a constant loser and even in their brightest moment they haven't reached the Western Finals. For 2 billion? They better hope the NBA starts treating them like they're the Lakers.

^^ It's an insane price for a perennial bottom dweller that Sterling kept mucking up any time they smelled success. It's only because they were gifted Chris Paul that they have been able to rise and like we said, even then they have not once gotten past the second round of the playoffs. It's crazy. But Ballmer has ridiculously deep pockets and so there you go.

Yeah, I certainly did not think Shelly would be willing and able to sell the franchise herself with this full authority. But none of us would have known the wording of a private Trust document. I thought she wanted to keep her share come hell or high water, but she was very smart and went for the money right now. Seems like this is a done deal and there really is zero that the Donald can do about it.

And to tell the truth, hearing this guy talk and going back to his idiosyncratic behavior over the past 10 years or so, it seems VERY probable to me that this guy has lost his mind to some extent.

Oh without a doubt I think he was mentally incapable of handling these situations. It's kind of sad honestly. If it wasn't for the fact that this guy has a lengthy history of being an ***hole and a horrible person, he'd be like most old people: a little racist because of the times they grew up in.

I know my grandparents were just a little too racist. :man10:

But to completely cut him off and make a move like this was brilliant maneuvering for Shelly Sterling. She sold the product at probably twice it's actual value, had her decrepit husband denounced, and made out like an absolute bandit. She won the chess match with all these people.

Wait wait wait…..that was all so "Shelly" could choose and pick and sell the team, not the NBA. Have we forgotten that. Sure he's getting senile but I hardly think he is "incapacitated". I'm still saying the whole group of Sterlings and their lawyers are playing "chess". Possibly.

I think the match is over LT. Shelly won the Game of Crones.

She wanted to sell before the NBA could decide who they had to sell to. She did that. She wanted a little revenge on Donald for years of infidelity. She got that in a big way. She sold the team for I'd say twice it's actual worth. And now she'll go after that little Stiviano chick and nail her to the wall. She won this whole thing.

Now that I've had some time to read the articles and digest what's going on: it's not over yet.

Remember Donald retracted his authorization for Shelly to conduct negotiations and so far as we know, he has not agreed to accept Ballmer's offer.

Hence the end game as I see it: Donald is 80, probably feeling his senility and old age overtaking him, but he still has a lot of pride left. Maybe all he has left aside from his money. So his demand that the NBA withdraw its sanctions on him should not surprise anyone. What I think is really going on here is that Donald doesn't care about the final dollar figure so much as he cares about clearing his name before he goes six feet under. So that will be his price for letting the sale and transfer process move forward.

The NBA has been backed into a corner from which I don't see a graceful exit. They can't take back the sanctions, that gets them into hot water with the players and everyone else, but keeping the sanctions on will almost certainly result in a huge legal mess in which only the attorneys get rich. Then what if Ballmer takes back his offer while the legal mess is being fought out: then there are more grounds for the Sterlings to go after the NBA. Methinks the only exit possible without the legal mess is for Silver and the NBA attorneys to call in Chris Paul, Roger Mason and Lebron for a private back room meeting, lay it out and jawbone them into standing aside for the good of the league. Think if the players step back, only then could the NBA away with dropping all sanctions and legal motions in exchange for letting the Sterlings sell to Ballmer with no further interference.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

If the Trust declared him unfit for decision making, then him retracting his percentage from Shelly would fall under that umbrella wouldn't it? If the Trust decided he doesn't have the mental capacity to own and operate his shares, wouldn't it revert to Shelly?

Well that's what they are saying. The NBA wanted NO part of Shelly doing the shopping for a new buyer. But if, OH MAN, they don't approve Ballmer then look the hell out. So (I think) "the trust" (Donald, Shelly, the Kids and the lawyers) did what they needed to do to tell the NBA go eff themselves. And Magic go eff himself.
