Wow..... off the rails here.....

before you guys get too far down that road....

Sterling had that "bought" family right?.... drug addicted kids.... wife is a piece of work and the mistress looks like a Wax Figurine left in the sun too long.... oh... and she cost a half dozen exotic cars and a 1.5 Million dollar apartment along with a "Black Card".

Both women are pieces of work. Shelly was very much part and parcel of Donald's discriminatory ways; she was the "health inspector" harassing "undesirable" tenants. And now she wants to distance herself from that? V. Stiviano is worse in some ways, very typical gold digger preying on old men.

The kids
Scott Sterling, the youngest, dead drug addict. Chris Sterling is supposed to be 58, but can't find anything about him other than that he's married. Curious that he's completely out of the picture. Joanna Sterling married a guy who took job in daddy's organization, was he good for anything else? What will he do when Ballmer lets him go?
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

If an NBA non premier franchise is getting 2 billion, what are the Knicks, Celtics, Lakers worth? Forbes says the Clippers are worth around 600 mil, I guess I should say what would someone pay rather than worth.

Then you have the giant NFL organizations, some of them could sell for 4-5 billion at this rate. :man4:

^^Well that's the issue.... the Lakers aren't worth a penny more today than 2 months ago. The price was not a "market" price for the Clippers. Ballmer waaaay over paid for them but since he has the cash he didn't need to get financial approval from the typical process that a businessman or LLP group would have to get.

The Lakers were valued at about 950M and the Knicks at 990M in that same Forbes publication. Dallas Cowboys and NY Giants are about 1.5 B in the NFL. Yankees are 2 B in baseball.

From what I've been seeing, the sale raises the value of bigger market teams. One article I saw said the Warriors value could go up by at least $500 million.

^^It's a "market". You have to have buyers. The higher the price of something the smaller the market to sell it in. That, by definition, is where markets get inefficient and value is difficult to determine.

I can guarantee you that on a cash flow basis the Clippers won't give Ballmer any positive ROI for at least a decade. That isn't really a good investment not is it?

He may not have bought the team to make money but most guys don't tie up 2B on non producing investments. Thus an even smaller market when you take out people that CAN buy and don't care about a return.

Id say the "risk" in buying a NBA team for more than book value is pretty high these days. A team like the Clippers, who don't have an arena, is a limited franchise in comparison to ones that generate revenue year round through leases etc.

LOL...so he wants his team back or he's going to sue the NBA for 1B and still sell the team? Either way, more chaos for the Clippers, the better :jam2:

No not at all. Lots of company you have here stocked up on popcorn. But this seems crazy as hell. If he screws up the Ballmer sale maybe he winds up with less money and having to watch Magic and friends run the team. Shelly must be absolutely crazy about now with his looney antics.

Donald Sterling's Attorneys Hire Investigators to 'Dig Up Dirt' on NBA Commissioners, Owners

Sterling's team of lawyers has paid four private firms a six-figure budget to investigate the former and current NBA commissioners and the 29 team owners, according to an AP source.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's team of lawyers has hired four private investigation firms to dig up dirt on the NBA's former and current commissioners and its 29 other owners, said a person familiar with Sterling's legal strategy.

Investigators were given a six-figure budget over the next 30 days to examine the league's finances, allegations of previous discriminatory conduct and compensation to past Commissioner David Stern and current Commissioner Adam Silver, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday night on condition of anonymity. The person wasn't authorized to talk publicly.
The person said the investigators also are looking into whether other owners made any off-color jokes, or racist or sexist remarks.
"The gloves are off, as they say," the person said. "Have them dig up all the dirt they can find."
The 80-year-old Sterling is suing the NBA for $1 billion in federal court after the league tried to oust him as Clippers owner for making racist remarks to a girlfriend that were recorded and publicized. Silver fined him $2.5 million and banned him for life.
The suit alleges the league violated Sterling's constitutional rights by relying on information from an "illegal" recording. It also said the league committed a breach of contract by fining Sterling and that it violated antitrust laws by trying to force a sale.
STORY Donald Sterling Backs Out of Clippers Deal, $1 Billion NBA Lawsuit Still On
Sterling's attorneys also will be facing off with his wife's attorneys in probate court during a four-day hearing scheduled for July.
The probate court hearing centers on whether Shelly Sterling had the right to unilaterally negotiate a $2 billion deal to sell the Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Shelly Sterling's attorney, Pierce O'Donnell, said she made the deal as the sole administrator of The Sterling Family Trust, which owns the team, after two doctors determined her estranged husband was mentally "incapacitated." Donald Sterling is fighting that conclusion and her authority to sell.
The person who spoke to the AP said Donald Sterling reluctantly agreed to hire private investigators after this week's legal proceedings in probate court. The NBA submitted a legal filing Wednesday urging a judge to confirm Shelly Sterling's authority to sell the team.
"He realized these guys will literally go to any low to get this sold," the person said. "Even if it gets (him) nothing other than exposing all these guys and shaking up the league and seeing a change in the leadership of the league, it'll be worth it to him."
The firms will be engaged in an "audition" of sorts, the individual said: "Whoever delivers the best (material) is going to stay on for the next round and it might be all four of them ... 29 owners is not a small undertaking."
Donald Sterling's attorney declined to comment on the report.

If those investigators could find two things, I think I would cut my dislike for Sterling in half.....

1.) That Stern actually did screw the Lakers out of getting CP3

2.) Cleveland has gotten so many 1st overall picks because of tampering with the lottery
- .007% of getting the 1st pick that many times - Not buying it
