Dwight Coward Discussion

That Thomas Robinson block on his alley-oop last night was awesome. It was like a prelude of what Dwight is going to look like when he loses his athleticism.

Im not sure I agree with this.....

One of the after the game sports dudes called Dwights numbers fool's gold and I agree. Watching him play he is not dominating the game and the other team isn't concerned with him getting points. He gets dunks off the lobs and putbacks. He did get some nice blocks late in the game yesterday but all in all his defense isn't something we saw when he was in Orlando. When he gets his big numbers his team is suffering and no one else is playing well usually. The truth about his numbers though is Portland refuses to double him because outside of dunking he is nearly a joke on the box with post moves. Lopez has basically played him straight up. I personally don't think any of them should be considered "best player" on that team because Harden is a joke, Lin doesn't get any respect, Parsons has been invisible to me and the most dynamic of the whole team is a rookie who was in the D-League 2 weeks ago. The whole team is fool's gold but Howard hasn't done anything for me to warrant any type of praise or pass (not saying you are doing that mind you) from me. They are who I thought they are lol
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

in terms of "who we thought they were", I figured harden would just be kamikaze-ing it to the basket for FTAs en route to victories. I'm pleased that that hasn't been the case thus far, both in terms of outcomes and in terms of the integrity of the game.

:man1: Thought he was gonna have fun in Houston, didn't see the Blazers coming. He will never win a title in Houston, before I said as long as LeBron and Durant are around, but now he's gotta worry about Lillard and Aldridge too, ha ha.

He had a great series ... way better than the best SG in the league .

I'm surprised he stayed on the floor after Lillard won the game and didn't act like a loser ... while Harden was already gone .

This is as much as credit I'm ever going to give Coward ...

. Dwight Howard - F/C - Rockets
Dwight Howard said after Friday's Game 6 defeat that certain Rockets players including himself "relaxed" at times during their first round series.
"Nothing is easy ... I’ve been to the top and it’s not easy getting there," Howard said. "Portland came out and played from the first game to tonight, those guys played together. Just watching their mentality on the floor, it was good. It was a seasoned team." The Rockets fell in dramatic fashion after an improbable fadaway 3-pointer from Damian Lillard, and they'll seek postseason redemption next season with the core of the team locked into guaranteed contracts -- the team has affordable options for Chandler Parsons, Patrick Beverley and Omri Casspi, with zero key players headed into unrestricted free agency.

wait didn't he want to play on a team where he can relax and have fun?

i have to admit i take joy in dwight and the rockettes losing, but i also have to admit that howard played really well and he'd be pretty low on the list of reasons the rockets lost this series.

Wait.... Howard is most famous for what? Defense. What did Aldreidge do in the first two games to him?

Offensive stats don't show the whole story on him... He was horrible in allowing LA post position and LA got the ball whenever and where ever he wanted it. His on man defense was a reason they lost the series.

Even his overhyped help defense was not there is shutting down the lane for Lillard. What his scoring average was is not reflective of his overall performance but it is what seems important to fans.

LA was unconsious the first 2 games. Nothing could be done. Howard was Rockets best player throughout this series hands down
