East 2nd round: (2) New York Knicks vs (3) Indiana Pacers

Well, I was talking about defense for the entire season, not just 4 games. Clearly, the defense looks worse when you go up against Miami as opposed to Indiana, but if you look at the whole season....

11-12 Knicks
101.0 defensive rating (5th)

12-13 Knicks
106.3 defensive rating (18th)

That's a pretty big difference. Against a below average offensive team like the Pacers, defense should not "appear" to be a problem. That's like stopping the Hornets, Hawks, or Cavs. It doesn't mean much. You look at the entire season, and the Knicks have been average to below average defensively.

True or false, the Pacers close out the Knicks?

True, although I know it is a cliche but with both teams it is relevant, which team shows up? IMO if they play up to standards Pacers > Knicks.

True or False, Melo and JR will take over 42 shots combined?

What site do you use to get stats like that?

If the Knicks are to have a chance they need to get inside and get Indiana in foul trouble. The problem is that they don't have an inside player.... even Stat is mostly a jump shooter.

Indiana is making them be a jump shooting team and taking away the transition buckets. It leave NY's fate in the hands of JR Smith and Melo.... two guys that have never been great playoff performers in the past.

With the inside game success of Memphis AND Indiana, there is now a growing acknowledgement for teams that employ bigs that score with in the paint as oppossed to the wide open, spaced floor game dominated by wings. Kenny Smith pretty much discussed this last night on Inside The NBA.

Hibbert used to thought of as a stiff but he worked on his low post repertoire. What I find impressive is his knack for contesting shots without fouling. He just goes straight up...even drawing offensive fouls on a couple of occasion.
No siggie...

True, I don't think they'll just all of a sudden find some kind of balanced shooting night. Also it's basically their elimination game Carmelo and J.R. are going to try to do every thing they can.

The major site is basketball-reference.com. For the percentage of shots that are jumpers, I went to 82games.com.

Now tuning into the game, anyone be kind enough to inform me on the first half?

Like I've stated before, the Pacers are the best defensive team in the league, but NY offense is so bad it is hard to see it. If only Indy had some consistent offense.

Copeland doing some serious work, making huge plays.

And did Reggie Miller really just say "JR Smith is shooting 29% this series, he has got to shoot himself out of it".

I'm liking the Knicks energy here way greater than the Pacers, for the first time all series they are playing with a sense of urgency/highly active play.

The Pacers defense is excellent, but their offense is gawdawful. Even worse than Memphis. Memphis at least has some decent ball movement.

Can you imagine Pacers/Memphis? Two defensive juggler knots going at it.

We live to play another day. Copeland was huge, Melo didn't shoot a good percentage but made the big shots to stop any Pacers runs, and defense and intensity was there all night. Next game will be VERY tough, but if we can take it in Indiana, I will feel great about our Game 7 chances. One game at a time!

Okay I had a feeling New York was gonna turn it on, they knew it was a game where they had to fight for their postseason lives. They weren't gonna lose this one.

George Hill is playing tonight.....looks like I'm either gonna be happy and having a great time at the strip club, or devastated and having TOO good of a time at the strip club....I fear the latter :man5:

That was one helluva block by Hibbert. Met 'Mello at the rim, and it was clean, no doubt.

That really was! Pretty darn good game btw! Really enjoying the battle. Even with the Lakers out the playoffs have been really watchable this year.

Melo's teammates really stepped it up tonight in this big game, Smith 3/12, Felton 0/7, Chandler 1/4, Martin 2/3.

Yikes! Melo has 37 points. He is doing it all! And the announcer just said that since Melo is like the QB he is the one to get all the blame. That's BS.
