CL Edition: Second Best Scorer of All-Time

Postby thkthebest on Sun Nov 11, 2012 4:37 am

Kobe Bryant was deemed the best scorer of all-time by CL. We are now voting for the second best scorer of all-time.

Top 5:

1. Kobe Bryant
2. Vote now
3.
4.
5.

My vote: Michael Jordan

If you want someone on the list, nominate him and the winner of the nominees will be in the next poll.

After seeing the last poll, I thought Kareem would win this time, but it looks like the people who voted for Kobe are now voting for Jordan.

I guess that's not too surprising since their games are similar.

:man10: :man10: Wouldn't that be you?..... You were the one advocating Jordan in the first round.

Kareem played before everyone's time with the exception of a hand full of us. Most here grew up with Jordan and Nike etc.... It's not that surprising to me. I'll bet Kareem is 4th when it's over.....

No, I didn't vote for Kobe last round. Jordan's #1 on my list with Kareem being #2.

I'm not sure how many times I have to say this. I never said that Jordan should be the winner, although I think he's the best scorer of all-time. I clearly said that I think Jordan deserves more than 1 vote. I also pointed out that I have no problem with Kareem winning it.

Now, the guy who had 1 vote for almost the entire round is winning while the guy who almost round the first round is losing and I can only assume that it's because people who voted for Kobe are now voting for Jordan.

"Best Scorer" is a difficult thing to quantify. For most it's massive point totals in games or season averages... for me it's consistently scoring when it's needed. In the case of Kareem and Malone it was for 20 years each.

Jordan had a chance to put this debate to rest but he retired twice.... so if it's potential he'd win in my book.... if it's actual it's got to be Kareem. Malone gets overlooked a lot here as well...... in fact he gets overlooked in just about all of these debates as one of the best players of all time. For example I'd put him above Duncan as the best PF ever.

+1

Malone never aged the way Duncan has the last few seasons. He was in tip-top shape until he was injured his last season with the Lakers. Hell, he even punked a young Duncan in 2004, smothering him on the defensive end.

Duncan isn't and has never been as physically gifted as Malone, but he's still plenty effective even today. I would actually put him in my current top 5 centers.

I didn't get to vote on the last one but I would have voted for Kareem on that one so I voted for Kareem here. No one scored more points than Kareem. Kareem had an unstoppable offensive weapon with the sky hook and he averaged in the 20's up until his late 30's. He also won final MVP at age 38 back in 1985, absolutely dominating the evil empire.

You can make a damn good argument for Kareem being the GOAT and as far as scoring, well no one scored more for so long.

It has to be the cap.

For the defensive big man poll, my one vote seemed to have so much power. :man10:

People definitely care more about scoring.
