As with all stats, stats don't tell the whole story. In Game 7's/5's teams try to take the focal point of the offense (these superstars) out of the game with their defensive schemes. I thought this was interesting so I'm posting it here.

Elimination games in what sense?

A blow out during a sweep is one thing..... playing poorly in a game 7 (elimination game) is another.

Again.... looking at individuals in a team sport.... :bang: A player could score 60 in a game but he plays with crap all around him he's not going to win close games in the playoffs.

These stats need a lot more definition before they can tell you anything.
"If the past sits in judgment on the present, the future will be lost." Winston Churchill

“The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present - and is gravely to be regarded." Dwight Eisenhower

"Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it" Thomas Sowell

Yea I'm not sure, good point on the sweep thing. But the true win or go home stats are there as well which you could just focus on that.

The stats are telling a story, just food for thought, it can be factor in analyzing a player, not THE factor.

But in basketball 1 player can easily have a ridiculously huge impact, similar to baseball with pitchers. When your back is against the wall the superstars listed should perform well, it's a team sport but in basketball I single player can literally win you the game, cannot say that about other sports with the exception of baseball.

What stands out to me is Dirk/LeBron/MJ play way up to standards for game 7's/5's.

The stats aren't completely telling....

For example, you can point to Kobe's game 7 stats, but they don't take into account the actual elements of what was going on in those games.

Houston took us to 7 games in 07-08 and in that 7th game Kobe only put up 14/7/5. Pretty pedestrian, until you look at the game and see we were beating them by 20 for 3 quarters. The stats will reflect the 14/7/5, but the stats won't take into account we were up by 20 for over 75% of the game.
Rule of Thumb at ClubLakers - Never encourage people to check your post history.

Foul trouble.... Blow outs.... playing through injury...... Sweeps or one sided series etc. are not in those stats.
